From May 9-11, members of the Submarine Force, industry, laboratories, academia, warfare centers, and acquisition and intelligence communities gathered at Johns Hopkins APL for the 35th annual Submarine Technology Symposium, centered on the theme, “Undersea Dominance and Deterrence in the Decade of Maximum Danger.”

DART Mission Recognized for Aerospace Excellence

NASA’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), designed, built and operated by APL, was recognized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) with the organization’s newest award — the AIAA Award for Aerospace Excellence — on May 18.

Codebreaker Dickie George Inducted Into National Cryptologic Hall of Honor

One of the world’s foremost codebreaking mathematicians was recognized by the National Security Agency on May 8 when Richard “Dickie” George was inducted into the National Cryptologic Hall of Honor. George and three others joined the ranks of just 106 inductees in U.S. history honored for their extraordinary contributions to national security through cryptology.

Richard “Dickie” George, one of the world’s foremost codebreaking mathematicians, was recently inducted into the National Security Agency’s National Cryptologic Hall of Honor.
