Dear Colleagues:

With only a couple of weeks to go before we return for the fall semester, with plans for full, in-person classes and university activities, we now more than ever need to maintain safe practices to ensure we can enjoy all our Roo traditions.
The Delta variant has become a significant obstacle in our fight against COVID-19, with case counts rising in our community and our state. Vaccination remains the most powerful tool we have in fighting the pandemic. With that in mind, we have three important asks of you, with more details below on all three:
  1. Please take a short survey (even if you have completed it previously) that will help us gauge the percent of campus population that has been vaccinated; this is critical for future campus health and safety and vaccination planning.
  2. If you haven’t been vaccinated, please do so. We have a series of terrific incentives as encouragement.
  3. If you HAVE been vaccinated, please upload your vaccination card to be considered for incentives.
Our UMKC family must keep working together so we can continue to deliver on our mission of teaching, research and service. People are counting on us. Let’s do this!
Campus vaccination survey
A key element in keeping our campus safe is understanding the vaccination rates and needs of our community. For that reason, we ask you to answer a brief survey. Even if you have completed a previous survey, please complete this one.
Vaccination and incentives
To aid our campus community in getting vaccinated, we have set walk-in vaccination clinics for 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Aug. 19 and 20 in the Oak Street Residence Hall, second floor, room 1500. Check here for additional vaccination opportunities. We continue to urge every member of our community who can be vaccinated to do so.
As further encouragement, we are offering an incentive program in the form of a drawing for prizes, open to employees who upload their vaccination cards. The first drawing will be Sept. 1, with another set for Oct. 15. Prizes include 20 free annual parking passes and 20 $500 Visa gift cards. More details on incentives.
(Note: While UMKC currently does not mandate vaccination for all students and employees, we have just added a requirement that calls for all UMKC faculty, staff, students and volunteers who have direct patient contact to be vaccinated by Oct. 1.)
Here’s how to upload your vaccination information:
Faculty and staff can upload COVID-19 vaccination cards through myHR. Click on the COVID Vaccine Upload tile and follow the instructions on the page. You are automatically eligible for the incentives once you complete the upload.
In our ongoing effort to Keep Every Roo Safe, we continue to require mask-wearing in public indoor spaces, following the latest CDC guidelines for students, faculty and guests to campus. A complete list of current UMKC health and safety policies can be found on the UMKC Coronavirus website
Thank you for your continuing commitment to our mission and for helping us to create the safest care environment possible by protecting yourself and others through COVID-19 vaccination.
