Celebrate Thank a Donor Week With Us

The IUP Community is invited to celebrate Thank a Donor Week from February 27 through March 3. As a student, you’ll have the opportunity to write a thank-you note to an IUP donor to tell them what their generosity means to you. There are three options to submit your thank-you note:

Stop by North Dining on Monday, February 27, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Visit the Jane Leonard Hall lobby on Wednesday, March 1, from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
Submit your thank-you note online anytime between Monday, February 27, and Friday, March 3.

Students who submit a thank-you note will receive an IUP sticker and be entered to win gift card prizes.

Networking will help you develop and improve your skill set, so it is important to build strong connections with your advisor, instructors, and classmates. Consider joining a professional club or organization on campus. Also, check out the IUP Alumni Connections Career Center.

Crimson Hawks Basketball Teams Secure Spots in PSAC Tournament

Both the men’s and women’s basketball teams have secured a spot in the PSAC Tournament. Men’s basketball enters the regular season finale as the top seed in the PSAC West, hosting the PSAC Quarterfinals on March 1 at the KCAC. The women’s basketball team aims to secure the number two seed in the PSAC Western Division, which would clinch a bye and a home playoff game on March 1. Go Hawks!

Celebrating Black Excellence with the Black Student League

Join the Black Student League on Friday, February 24, at 6:00 p.m. in the HUB Ohio Room for an evening to celebrate the accomplishments of the Black and Brown students at IUP who are making a difference on campus and in the community. There will be free food, music, and performances.

Informational Interviewing

One of the key tenants of life design is getting out and trying things! Consider reaching out to someone who has a job you’d love to have one day to learn more and test if it is the right fit for you.

Informational interviews, or prototype conversations as life design puts it, are a great way to learn about a potential career path and build your professional network. You can search for IUP alumni in your desired field to talk with on LinkedIn by going to IUP’s LinkedIn page and clicking on “Alumni.”

Six O’Clock Series: Black Mental Health Matters

Join us on Monday, February 27, at 6:00 p.m. in the Elkin Hall Great Room for a workshop presented by Channing Moreland. A growing body of research shows that racism has had a profound and negative impact on Black communities, resulting in racial trauma and poor health outcomes. This workshop will increase mental health awareness, knowledge, and skills to help eliminate the stigma associated with acknowledging mental illness and seeking help.

Nine Days in the Sun: A Play in Many Scenes by Mark Clayton Southers

The idea is simple. What if dark skin were the desired tone and the beige/pinkish color we call white was a liability? A terroristic attack has pushed the Earth closer to the sun and depleted its ozone mantle. Nine Days in the Sun takes the audience to a world where the racial balance has shifted and as a result, the social order in America is turned upside down.

Nine Days in the Sun starts its run on Thursday, March 2, at 7:30 p.m. at the Waller Hall Mainstage. You can purchase tickets online, in-person, or by calling 724-357-2787.
