Office Update
ONIF has moved to Leavey Suite I!
On November 6, ONIF moved from University Hall 1879 to Leavey Hall Suite I. ONIF's phone number and email remain the same.
Leavey Hall is near the new Habit Burger, formerly Iggy's Diner. Important Note: Leavey Hall is not the same as the Leavy Apartments!

Event Spotlight
Udall Scholarship Info Session
Friday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m., VDA 241
The Udall Scholarship is a $7,000 award for sophomore and junior level college students committed to careers related to the environment, tribal public policy*, or Native American health care*.  

This info session will familiarize you with the award, application process, and best practices for constructing a competitive application. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors of all majors are encouraged to attend. 

*Must identify as Native American or Alaska Native

All or Multiple Disciplines
Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals- Deadline: December 1. A professional exchange for young Americans (ages 18.5 to 24) in all fields. This year-long, cultural work-study program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State with funding provided by the U.S. Government and German Government and offers participants a combination of theory and practical training by providing two months of intensive language training, nearly a semester of university or technical school instruction and an internship in the participant's career field. A maximum of 75 applicants is selected each year. All applicants must be U.S. citizens.

The Yenching Academy of Peking University- Deadline: December 7. Yenching Academy aims to build bridges between China and the rest of the world through an interdisciplinary master's program in China Studies. This initiative brings together young people who have demonstrated a talent for leadership and innovation. At Yenching, they are immersed in an intensive learning environment where they can explore China and its role in the world—past, present, and future. The Academy's goal is to shape new generations of global citizens with a nuanced understanding of China. The Yenching Academy provides full fellowships to its scholars,(including room & board, tuition, and travel costs) and offers them a wide array of interdisciplinary courses on China within broadly defined fields of the humanities and social sciences. Working closely with their academic mentors, Yenching Scholars create their own study paths by choosing courses from six research areas. They participate in a variety of extracurricular activities and field studies, organized by the Yenching Academy, and designed by scholars themselves. Studying at the Academy is an exceptional opportunity to take part in intercultural exchanges and interdisciplinary learning, developing both personally and professionally. Ford Foundation Predoctoral Fellowship- Deadline: December 13. Through its Fellowship Programs, the Ford Foundation seeks to increase the diversity of the nation's college and university faculties by increasing their ethnic and racial diversity, to maximize the educational benefits of diversity, and to increase the number of professors who can and will use diversity as a resource for enriching the education of all students.This year the program will award approximately 70 predoctoral fellowships. These fellowships provide three years of support for individuals engaged in graduate study leading to a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) or Doctor of Science (Sc.D.) degree. Ford Fellows received an annual stipend of $24,000, as well as mentoring and other benefits.

The Surety and Fidelity Industry Intern and Scholarship Program for Minority Students- Deadline: November 23! The Surety and Fidelity Industry Intern and Scholarship Program for Minority Students provides awards of up to $5,000 to outstanding minority students to support their studies in the areas of insurance/risk management, accounting, or business/finance and to encourage their consideration of the surety industry and surety/fidelity underwriting as a career choice.

Frank R. Seaver College of Science & Engineering
Generation Google Scholarship- Deadline: December 6. The Generation Google Scholarship was established to help aspiring computer scientists excel in technology and become leaders in the field. Selected students will receive $10,000 and will also be invited to attend the Google Scholars’ Retreat in the summer of 2019.
