Study with Us! Summer Adult Learning Experiences

The Jewish Renaissance of 16th Century Tsfat. Jewish Composers of Broadway. Jewish Images of the Divine. Islamic Perspectives on Judaism. Learn about these subjects and more with Hebrew College Adult Learning this summer. We've updated our Adult Learning course catalog with summer '24 offerings, and registration is live.

We also added new travel learning experiences — enroll in "How did we get here? Civil rights, social justice, and race in American Jewish History" in August, and then travel with HC Adult Learning in November on a Civil Rights Journey through the American South.

Finding our balance in these times can be difficult. We can find reinforcement for our emotional yo-yoing in the way that our tradition has always mixed our joys and our sorrows, in the psalms of Hallel which run the gamut of human emotions, in the way that our holidays forge celebrations out of escape from disaster, and in the mood swings of the Torah, such as this portion, Emor, which lingers over the descriptions of the holidays only to end with the stoning of a blasphemer.

Hebrew College Leaders Featured in Recent Podcasts

Take a listen! Hebrew College President Rabbi Sharon Cohen Anisfeld and Provost Rabbi Dan Judson were each featured on recent Jewish Podcasts.

President Anisfeld appeared on an episode of the Hadar Institute podcast "Answers WithHeld." Joining host Rabbi Shai Held, the pair delved deeply into the sometimes scary question of our own mortality in an episode titled "What Happens After I Die?"

And Rabbi Judson appeared on "The Dybbukast," a podcast produced by Theatre Dybbuk to explore creative works in a scholarly and artistic context. The episode, "At Newport", explores two poems by celebrated 19th Century American poets, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's "The Jewish Cemetery at Newport" and Emma Lazarus's "In the Jewish Synagogue at Newport."

 Professor Marc Dollinger, author of the upcoming revised edition of  Black Power, Jewish Politics, will share his experience as a white male scholar writing and teaching about Jews and social justice between the publication of the first edition of the book in 2018 and today.
