Parent/Family Orientation |
Sessions are filling quickly and registration closes today!
Join for a welcome reception to mingle with other Eagle parents and families and attend presentations from the AU experts who will support your student's journey at AU.
Dates: August 18 or 19 (attend one)
Time: 3:30pm arrival, sessions from 4pm to 6:30pm
Location: Mary Graydon Center 1st floor

📋For those who are not able to attend--not to worry! Post-event, we will share an overview of the information presented so all first-year and transfer families will have important resources in hand.

| 📍 Welcome to AU, transfer families!
We've planned some special transfer-specific events for Orientation, so remind your student to keep an eye out for details in the Orientation schedule.
Also, be sure they are enrolled in the transfer section of AUx (CORE-196), where they will connect with other transfer students who are navigating the same transition. Welcome, Eagles!
Students can contact Diane Palmer, Coordinator of Transfer Student Success, with any questions.

| Part-Time Employment Fair |
📱Is your student looking for paid part-time employment during the semester? The Part-Time Employment Job Fair on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, 1:00-3:30pm in the MGC Tavern is an opportunity for them! Students will engage with on-campus departments hiring for both FWS-eligible positions and non-FWS positions and off-campus organizations hiring for paid part-time roles. Students register for the fair on Handshake and can contact the event lead Oliver Ruiz-Gomez at oruizgomez@american.edu with any questions.

📋It's an election year! Did you know students can vote by absentee ballot? The process differs by state (e.g., some states require that students complete a form in person before they leave for school). Library staff works to ensure students know about the processes and can assist them.

📦 American University is lucky enough to have a UPS store right in the heart of campus in the Lydecker Tunnel. With all the capabilities of your typical UPS location, this is an easy and convenient way to send (or receive!) packages to and from campus.
