From Facilities & Property Management: Contractors and PSU staff will be on site at the Millar Library for cleanup and repair due to interior and exterior damage of the building. Activities include, but are not limited to: Debris disposal, painting, window repair/replacement, electrical work, elevator repair, janitorial cleaning, equipment repair, etc.

Matt Billings named interim athletic director |
Portland State Director of Athletics John Johnson announced his resignation from PSU Athletics effective at the end of April. Johnson, who has been at Portland State for two years, has expressed a need to be closer to elderly family members.
PSU President Ann Cudd announced that Deputy Athletics Director Matt Billings will step in as acting Athletics Director. A search for a permanent leader for PSU Athletics will kick off in the coming months.

This week marks the final week of dean search interviews on campus — there are four active searches currently underway. Two finalists for the Dean of College of Education will be on campus for interviews this week. Faculty and staff are invited to attend Open Forums with the candidates on the following dates:

Stay Connected with Google Voice after June 30 |
The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is in the final stages of migrating PSU phone service to Google Voice, and many features of our traditional Avaya-based phone service will be retired on June 30. After this date, access to voicemail and long-distance calling will be removed from Avaya-based phones. If your phone service has not already moved to Google Voice, please contact your department’s Technology Coordinator or visit Tech Talk: the OIT Blog for more information.

The School of Film presents cinematographer Alicia Robbins |
Alicia Robbins, a director of photography on the Netflix series "Bridgerton," will pay a visit to the School of Film to talk with students and members of the larger community about her work on the show (and she'll show a preview of her work on the upcoming third season). Robbins was previously the lead director of photography on "Grey's Anatomy" season 17, and also worked on projects including "The Irishman," "The Post," and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes," in addition to several other award-winning feature films and shorts. The talk is open to all and is free. Join this event on Tuesday, May 21 at 5 p.m. in the Studio Theater, Lincoln Hall 115.

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art (JSMA) at PSU presents Long Story Short: 2024 BFA/MFA Showcase, an exhibition of work by the 2024 graduates of the Master of Fine Arts in Contemporary Art Practices programs (Studio Practice and Art + Social Practice) and the Bachelor of Fine Arts in Art Practice in the Schnitzer School of Art + Art History + Design. The exhibition runs May 16 - June 8 with a public reception on Thursday, May 16, from 5 – 7 p.m. at JSMA at PSU.

Closing reception for Changing the Narrative: Epilogue |
Changing the Narrative: Epilogue, an arts-based research on homelessness and housing instability will have its closing reception on Saturday, May 11 from 4 - 7 p.m. at the Lloyd Center Mall, ground floor suite G113. Epilogue is an arts-based impact assessment of the collaborative research and comics project: Changing the Narrative. The Epilogue exhibition includes the original 10 comics from Changing the Narrative and 18 new works reflecting on the personal, professional and creative impacts of that project by local artists. The exhibition includes comics, ceramics, textiles, paintings, collage, installations, illustrations, and zines.

- Please encourage students to participate in the annual Student Experience Survey, which is out now. Students received a link to their pdx.edu email on April 24.
- Information sessions are coming up later this month and in June for students interested in overseas research, projects or study through the Fulbright U.S. Student Program. Application deadline is Sept. 8.
