  1. Future educators! The state of Michigan has created two new programs to support your work in our schools: The MI Future Educator Fellowship and Stipend. The limited fellowship will offer up to $10,000/year in scholarship support, renewable for up to 3 years; the stipend will provide up to $9,600/semester for those in unpaid student teaching positions. To learn more about these programs, as well as to apply, visit the MI Student Aid's website!

  2. Our Lakers from the Physician Assistant Studies program recently won a national competition from the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA)! As part of its 50th Anniversary celebration, PAEA hosted the Golden Games competition, where students from different universities can share their program's history in unique and innovative ways. Grand Valley students stepped up their game and became a winner with a video highlighting the impact of the PAS program in the Traverse City area! Check out the winning video. Congrats, Lakers!

  3. Lakers, do you struggle with work-school-life balance and your mental health? You are not alone. Sometimes it helps to learn about the experiences of your peers. Check out this article from the journal NatureHang in there, you got this!

  4. If you are in need of a break, Thanksgiving Day Recess is coming soon! One last pit stop before the final lap of the semester: November 23-27.

  5. The end of the semester is approaching, which means the Graduate School Citation Awards event is also coming up! Please join us in honoring students and faculty who have distinguished themselves in graduate education at GVSU. Save the date - December 2 - and look out for more details coming soon! Also, a quick reminder, we are still taking nominations for the faculty awards. Learn about the different awards, then let gradschool@gvsu.edu know your nomination by November 9!

  6. Finally, please join us in congratulating Kevin Kredit and Brittany Bahl. The two alumni, from Applied Computer Science and Communications respectively, have been nominated for the Midwest Association of Graduate Schools (MAGS) Distinguished Master's Thesis Awards! Winners will be announced in early 2023. Until then, check out the full story in our news article!
