More than 600 attendees representing the U.S. Navy submarine force, allied nations, industry, and academia gathered at Johns Hopkins APL for the annual Submarine Technology Symposium.

NASA’s Dragonfly mission has reached another development milestone, with structural testing of the rotorcraft lander now complete. The milestone clears the way for the next phase of integration, when teams will begin installing Dragonfly’s electronics, avionics, instruments, and other flight hardware.

At the single biggest sporting event in U.S. history, drawing 5 million international visitors to 11 U.S. cities for 78 matches over the course of 39 days, the Lab is playing a central role in ensuring that illnesses will not spread and become major incidents.

Researchers from APL and DEVCOM Army Research Laboratory collaborated on a breakthrough demonstration where autonomous robotic teams carried out demanding and potentially dangerous tasks, reducing risk to human operators while extending mission capabilities.

Leveraging key institutional technologies and NASA programs, including the planetary mission New Horizons, space researchers at the Lab are investigating exoplanets, stellar phenomena, and cosmic conundrums that are refining our picture of the universe and could even reveal the first signs of life beyond Earth.
