North Vegans Launches at Open Streets Lowry
North Vegans is a new ARC program that provides community outreach to North Minneapolis and surrounding areas. Open Streets Lowry was our inaugural event. We focused on handing out delicious multi-cultural recipes and other helpful information. The event was a lot of fun; it was a gorgeous day and there was live music and many other interesting vendors.

We had a lot of folks stop by and ask about our organization. Many had found out about our launch online and were excited to join our Facebook groupThe children and teens wore our animal rights stickers with pride. Touchingly, several people thanked us for basing our program in the Northside community. We explained that the organizers live in North Minneapolis and were grateful to be able to give back to the community. We are certain this will be the first of many successful events for North Vegans.
Second Showing of COWSPIRACY Added
Are you sad because you couldn't make the September screening of COWSPIRACY? Wipe those tears because tickets have gone on sale for a second screening in October after our September screening sold over 100 tickets and sold out the theater. So mark your calendar for Thursday, October 16 at 7:30 pm at the Landmark Lagoon Cinema, 1320 Lagoon Ave. in Minneapolis and buy tickets for the second screening here.

There's lots of buzz about this film; make sure you don't miss this groundbreaking environmental documentary that follows a filmmaker as he uncovers the most destructive industry facing the planet today, and investigates why the world's leading environmental organizations are too afraid to talk about it.

Amy said after the first screening "Wow. Tonight's screening was jawdropping. I learned so much. Laughed a bit, clenched my jaw in anger, and clapped. I have this urgency now to get everyone I know to go to the next screening!"
Snuggle Coats Launches in Australia
ARC recently received a note from a woman in Australia who was so inspired by our Cuddle Coats program that she wanted to launch a similar program in Australia. Alex Beane, who heads up ARC's Cuddle Coats committee, worked with her and she has just launched the new Australian Snuggle Coats program. One of the first fur items donated to the program, a pair of Merinomink slippers, provided a snuggly bed for this Australian baby possum. Merinomink is a product of New Zealand that is a blend of Merino wool and Brushtail Possum fur,

Meet Chelsea Hassler, ARC Outreach Director
Chelsea Hassler is ARC's new Outreach Director. Vegan since 2009, she is passionate about spreading her love of vegan food and baked goods.  Chelsea's volunteering at ARC has ranged from staffing Pay Per View events, to leafleting, to baking for various bake sales, and many others. She and her husband live in the northwest suburbs, raising their two vegan boys, and are caretakers of two rescue cats, Warren and Butters.

Chelsea is a graduate of the Carlson School of Management at the University of Minnesota with a double major in Marketing and Management. She has held sales and marketing positions in the technology and financial services industries and is excited to bring this experience to work for ARC, finding new opportunities to get people excited about the vegan message. We're excited to have her on board as her sales background will be invaluable as she works to find more opportunities for our Pay Per View program and to bring ARC speakers into more schools and places of worship.  Chelsea will be working closely with Dallas Rising, ARC Executive Director and Ashley Pediscalzi, ARC Volunteer Coordinator.
