Health Insurance Waiver Deadline Reminder | July 15, 2026

Dear Parents and Families,

Before we share important deadline reminders with you, we are happy to announce that the Health and Wellness team is hosting opportunities for personal consultation during move in. Our medical and mental health staff have set aside times for students to speak with them about any individual concerns they may have for the upcoming year. These 15 minute consultations are on a first come, first served basis. 

August 28, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

September 2, 9 a.m.–12 p.m.

As a follow up reminder to the May 19 Orientation email, all students are required to have Health Insurance (it’s a Massachusetts state law). We strongly encourage you to compare your current insurance with the student health insurance using the Tufts Student Health Plan Comparison Tool. If you have comparable existing coverage, you can apply to waive the student health insurance before July 31 OR you will remain automatically enrolled and billed.

The form to waive the student health insurance is available on your student's Student Information System (SIS) account. Note: Your student can provide you with “Invited Viewer” access to their SIS account and the student health insurance waiver.

Also, if there is no option for a waiver in your SIS account, the student health insurance has not been assessed to you because of your status. For example, post-baccalaureate students and part-time students with less than 7 credits are not charged.

If you have already waived between June 1 and July 31, 2026, no further action is needed. If your waiver was approved, you can check your SIS account to see that the premium was credited.

(Optional) Tuition Insurance offers financial protection in case of a medical withdrawal. It will be available for fall and spring enrollment later this summer via the A.W.G. Dewar website. Enrollment must be before the first day of classes on September 8, 2026.
