Thanks to Our 1,800 Physician Volunteers!

During National Volunteers Month, we want to send our heartfelt thanks to our physician volunteers! Physicians support our mission by serving on the Nashville Academy and Medical Foundation Boards, committees and work groups, as delegates to the TMA House of Delegates, and by supporting our collective efforts to overcome COVID-19. More than 1,800 physicians have volunteered through Project Access Nashville to provide care to our low-income, uninsured neighbors. Your efforts save lives and continue to make Tennessee a great place to practice medicine.
If you are a NAM member and interested in serving as a delegate at the 2022 House of Delegates on May 21, please email Rebecca Leslie at rleslie@nashvillemedicine.org. NAM covers the cost for all delegates, and small number of spots remain in our delegation.
THANK YOU, DOCTORS!

Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Award Given to Robin Williams, MD

Next week, Dr. Robin Williams will receive the Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Award at the 2022 Dr. Matthew Walker, Sr. Legacy Breakfast given by the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center. Among the criteria for the recipient of the award, two of the stipulations include that the "person must have made or are making a significant impact and contribution to health or health care in their community" and "dedicates him/herself through actions and deeds to make this world a better place."

The award announcement shared this statement. “In each of the organizations where Dr. Williams has worked, she has held positions of leadership, demonstrating that she has never shied away from work. Her work has been recognized by receiving awards such as the Tennessee Breast Cancer Coalition Mary Jones Award, the Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center Archie L. Powell Excellence in Health Award and Nashville Medical News’ 'Women to Watch' 2018. In January 2018, she became the inaugural chair of the Medical Foundation of Nashville, which houses Project Access Nashville Specialty Care. Project Access has coordinated over 29,000 specialty care appointments since 2005, leveraging $41 million in donated medical care. She was also the president of the Nashville Academy of Medicine in 2020.”

TNMGMA Conference

Our team attended the Tennessee MGMA conference in early April to support our physicians and their practice managers as the statewide MGMA also celebrated 50 years! Our three pillars are physician health, practice health, and community health, and this conference aligned so nicely with all three as we interacted with the 150 practice managers in attendance.

We are proud of Cheryll Doss, administrator for Nashville Oncology Associates, one of our all-in member groups, for her leadership as president of Tennessee MGMA. We were able to network with our partners at Tennessee Medical Association, SVMIC, KraftCPAs PLLC, and First Horizon Bank's Medical Private Banking team, just to name a few. We were also able to support MFN who was there to promote Project Access Nashville to the local practice managers. We love supporting our members and their practices!
