Shedding Light on What's New |
This week we lit Uptown Normal in honor of Illinois State University's Homecoming celebrations. The lights celebrate our connection with ISU.
This issue highlights other ways we connect with ISU students, including walking alongside them to hear their concerns. From the night walk to welcoming a new art exhibit, we’re creating opportunities to listen, learn and experience our community in new ways.

Improvements like a new playground and a new surface for the Collegiate Branch of the Constitution Trail make our parks and public spaces even more inviting for residents and visitors of all ages.
Whether we’re investing in places to play or creating opportunities to connect, our goal remains the same: building a community where people feel welcome, heard and proud to call Normal home. Thanks for being part of it.

Night Walk Contributes to Campus Safety |
Illinois State University and Town leaders join students annually each fall for a night walk around campus to listen to those who experience campus daily. The event, designed to help leaders understand concerns and then work together on improvements, is a practical, boots-on-the-ground complement to campus safety. Earlier this month, ISU and Town leaders learned of the final plan of the Pedestrian & Roadway Campus Safety Initiative.
