Congratulations Western Albemarle High School!

Teachers from Western Albemarle High School took home the trophy for the second year in a row at the 12th Annual Wordplay competition. This year's game was held on Wednesday, April 24 at The Paramount Theater in downtown Charlottesville.
Forty-three teams competed in eight rounds of varying genres of trivia. Coming in second place this year was TEKGROUP International's team, Flor-Idiots. They were then followed by a team of teachers, team STABulous, from St.Anne's-Belfield School.
Gerry Newman and his team from Albemarle Baking Company won the best team name contest with the name "Yeasty Boys". Members of the Dunlora Forest Community won the costume contest for the second year in a row with their Dunlora Forest Rangers costumes.
Wordplay is LVCA's only fundraising event and raises over $30,000 each year for our programs and services. Thank you to all the of teams, sponsors, volunteers, and of course the game creator, Debra Weiss, who make it a magically fun and successful event each year.

LVCA Students Stay On Top

Chungs
You may have seen that Chung's Barbershop was voted "Best Men's Cut" in the Daily Progress 2019 Readers' Choice Awards. But did you know, Chung's employs three LVCA students? We love seeing our students recognized for their hard work in the community! Congratulations to David, Angela, and Linda.
