As summer begins to wind down and a new academic year approaches, it’s a good opportunity to reflect and plan ahead. We offer upcoming workshops, fresh resources, and other goodies to help you close out the summer on a high note and start the fall semester strong. 

Upcoming Seminars and Events

This is a half-day workshop for Miami University faculty to reflect on their past year of teaching and get excited about the year that’s beginning. Participants will explore concepts in teaching effectiveness through James Lang's Small Teaching framework model, be introduced to level-2 teaching concepts that enhance instructional effectiveness, and investigate ideas for using AI in modern education. Lunch will be included.

In this interactive session, we will share practical ways to frame sensitive topics, respond to difficult or unexpected questions, and keep class discussions respectful and productive. Together, we will explore how to create space for multiple (opposing) perspectives while staying grounded in your course goals and disciplinary expertise. You will leave with strategies, examples, and campus connections that can help you navigate these conversations with confidence and care.
