Groundwork for Community Change Course

This course offers support for young people and adults interested in community health with three modules covering "Social Determinants of Health", "Health Equity", and "Policy, Systems, and Environmental Change." This course serves a dual function: supporting the "Pre-planning" phase of Youth Advocates for Community Health by fostering shared understanding, and serving as a standalone e-learning resource for those wanting deeper insights into social determinants of health, health equity, and policy systems and environmental change.

Empowering Communities to Address America's Mental Health and Substance Use Needs

This series will consist of three webinars that will provide attendees with insights on how joint community/provider-led Recovery-Oriented System of Care (ROSC) can address the mental health and substance use needs in America.

Spring Seminar- Addressing Stress, the Social Determinants of Health, and Resilience in Rural Communities: A Call to Action

In this seminar, attendees will delve into the signs, symptoms, statistics, and impacts of stress and health challenges in rural communities, while also exploring strategies to enhance emotional well-being through understanding risk factors, protective measures, and social determinants of health, fostering connections to address stress-related concerns.

Youth Wellness Team member - Mallory

Youth Wellness Team Member Highlight and Q&A:

This month the Youth Wellness Team member highlight features Mallory (she/her). Mallory is a Senior at Marathon High School. She will be studying at University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire next year!

Q&A with Mallory:

What is one thing you’d like for our Local/Tribal Health Departments to know about working with young people?
I would like our local and tribal health departments to know that teens are experts at being teens and we know what is best for us.

What has the Youth Wellness Team been working on?
Right now we are currently working on publising a guide for healthcare organizations to focus on teenagers.

What has been your favorite part of being on this team?
My favorite part of being on the team was being able to meet other teenagers that were also part of PATCH bevause I'm from the Wausau branch, and I haven't really met anybody from outside branches. I know we have two people from the Madison branch and there's one from the Lacrosse area/ There's a healthy mix of us and it's really cool being able to communicate with people from other parts of the state.

Learning Community Call

June 24th 12:00pm - 1:30pm

The Youth Wellness Advisory Team featuring the PATCH Youth Advocates will take over the Learning Community Call platform in June. During this session they will share all that they have learned in the last year, provide insight around youth engagement efforts, and be available to answer questions. We look forward to engaging with all of you during this session.

Practicing the Pause is a weekly opportunity to practice stress reduction and resiliency skills in a supportive environment.

Sessions take places every Thursday 8:30-9:00 AM on Zoom
