Bond Improvement Projects Schedule

The design team and the contractor for the bond improvement projects are diligently working on the next milestone in the project process: construction documents. This package will be submitted to authorities having jurisdiction for plan review and building permits in late August. On a parallel track to this review, Adolfson & Peterson Construction will be confirming pricing and developing a Guaranteed Maximum Price for the scope of work identified in the drawings and specifications. The construction for the Ranch House, Community Center and Dakota Lodge is still targeted to begin in the fall, once summer camps are complete and children are back in school. All three facilities will be under construction at the same time. The targeted completion date for construction is spring of 2016. There will likely be some landscape items (trees, shrubs, etc.) that lag the overall schedule. With guidance from KCR staff, the design team will provide phasing plans and project graphics to advise residents of areas of construction as well as alternative routes. This information will be posted at each facility and communicated to residents via the Life at Ken-Caryl newspaper. If you have any questions or concerns, please email bondprojects@kcranch.org.

Music a la Mode July 15

Join your fellow neighbors for the sounds of summer with fun, live music served up with free ice cream! The next Music a la Mode event is Wednesday, July 15 from 6-8 p.m. at the Ranch House Pool. There will be live music by the Bradford Junction Band, featuring an entertaining variety of rock, country, folk, blues and Americana covers and original songs. Additional family fun includes face painting, balloon animals, a bounce house and swimming! The event is free and is sponsored by the Scientific & Cultural Facilities District and the Ken-Caryl Ranch Metropolitan District.

Upper Cougar Trail Design Presentation

On July 21 at their regular monthly business meeting, the Ken-Caryl Ranch Master Association Board will consider a recommendation from the Ken-Caryl Ranch Open Space Committee to approve the final design for Upper Cougar Trail. The meeting will be Tuesday, July 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Ranch House and is open to the public. The proposed trail is located in the southwest corner of Ken-Caryl Ranch Private Open Space. The new trail when combined with Lower Cougar Trail (approved by the Board on June 9) will add nearly five miles of new trail to our existing trail system, which totals nearly 38 miles of single-track, two-track, soft surface and hard surface trails. The two projects together will provide a new open space access/trailhead to neighborhoods in the south part of the Valley, a trail loop of moderate to easy difficulty along the rolling, grassy toe slopes of the foothills, and a new access to the Foothills Open Space including connections to Massey Draw and trails north of there. You can read the full article and see a map of the trail on our website.

Equestrian Center Open House

The Ken-Caryl Ranch Equestrian Center is hosting an Open House on Saturday, July 25 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Enjoy free pony rides, a petting zoo, face painting, a bake sale, KC Nature environmental education displays, and other fun activities. Food and drinks will be available for purchase. On-site parking will be limited, so please consider carpooling or walking. Come see what the Equestrian Center is all about!
