For overall excellence in economics,  Victoria Johnson (left) was named the economics Honors Scholar. The Honors Scholar award is given to the economics major with the best economics GPA earned primarily at UM-Dearborn.
Victoria graduated with a double major (Industrial and Systems Engineering and Economics) last December 2021 (she was also the commencement student speaker), and is currently working in the manufacturing  industry. She hopes to eventually return to school for her Master’s degree.
The Joan Robinson Award was given to Nathaniel Hapin and Bradley Kwalton for their exceptional performance in the two intermediate economics theory courses, Econ 301 and Econ 302.
Professor Suzanne Bergeron published a co-authored paper "Care in Times of Pandemic: Rethinking Meanings of Work in the University" in Gender, Work & Organization. She also published the entry "Feminist Economics and the Social and Solidarity Economy" for the United Nations Task Force on Social and Solidarity Economy. Prof. Bergeron was reappointed to the Helen Mataya Graves Collegiate Professorship by the University of Michigan Board of Regents in July 2022.

Such wild swings can be viewed as a great deterrent for entry and makes one wonder how such volatility is possible.   [more]
