Dear WashU parents and families of returning students,

We hope you all have had a wonderful summer, and we look forward to welcoming your student back to campus later this week. In this special edition, we have provided some details regarding what you and your student can expect during their returning student Move-In Days and updates about Dining Services.

If you have questions about the information included in this special edition of Family Ties, we encourage you to reach out to Residential Life and Dining Services.

Additionally, we would appreciate it if you would take 5 to 10 minutes to complete our 2024 Family Programs Beginning of Year Survey, which includes questions about Student Transitions & Family Programs communication and parent and family programs and events. Your feedback and responses help us plan for future family programming and communication.

Fall 2024

There are three Returning Student Move-In Days: Friday, August 23; Saturday, August 24; and Sunday, August 25.

Your check-in location is determined by where you are assigned to live for the 2024-2025 Academic Year. Review the Returning Student Fall 2024 Move-In Information for detailed information about the move-in process, maps, and more. Have your student contact Residential Life with any questions about housing assignments or move-in.

As students return to campus, lunch time gets extra busy! Have your student plan ahead by checking the Fall Welcome Dining Hours on the Dining Services website for tips on navigating meals during this time.  

Beginning this fall, most campus orders will be made through the Grubhub app. If your student has not already, encourage them to download the Grubhub app now to stay ahead and enjoy their meals!

Your student may desire to spend some time shopping for last-minute supplies and re-immersing themselves into the WashU area. We have included a list of nearby shopping options in our shopping guide to help your student get started. We have also included an updated list of nearby dining options in our dining guide. Welcome back to you and your student!
