Family Ties is our monthly newsletter for parents and family members of undergraduate students. It includes timely updates and important information about move-in, key deadlines and Orientation. Be sure to watch for Family Ties in your inbox this summer so you don’t miss any important details.

Housing deadline is May 15 |

Parent & Family Orientation set for Aug. 14-16 |
Parent & Family Orientation (PFO) will take place from August 14-16. All programming ends by 4 p.m. CDT on August 16. Be sure to review the full schedule of events.
RSVP for Parent & Family Orientation opens July 1 and closes July 26 at 11:59 p.m. CDT. To register guests for PFO, students must login to their Housing Portal and select the "Move-in Day Guest Registration" form. They should enter the names of all guests who will attend move-in. This will also register them for PFO.

The Family Webinar Series is designed to keep families informed and connected around all things WashU. We know families play an essential role in student success, so each webinar is thoughtfully structured around the questions you may be asking, now and in the months ahead. Mark your calendars for these upcoming sessions as you prepare your student to move to campus. Advanced registration is required for the live webinars.

Move-in Day and Orientation |
We're excited to welcome you and your student to campus in August! Move-in Day is Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15*. Students will select their assigned move-in date and time in early July after receiving their housing assignment. Orientation is Saturday, August 15 through Saturday, August 22.
*International Student Move-in Day is August 13. Fall varsity athletes have different arrival dates; have your student check with their head coach for more information.

Communication from academic divisions |
Have your student check their WashU email account several times a week for important messages from their academic division. They will receive details about course registration and how to connect with their academic advisor. They also may be asked to complete important forms.
|
|
|
|
Update the family email address |
To ensure you and other family members receive university announcements, including Family Ties, make sure your student checks that their "Friends and Family Contacts" are updated in Workday.
|
|
|
|
Partners in Education with Parents |
The Partners in Education with Parents (PEP) program is financed and managed by the university. The program features low fixed interest rates, affordable monthly repayment terms, no origination fees, and the opportunity to freeze four years of charges at the entering-year rate. The early application date for the program is June 1.
|
|
|
|
| Students should apply for housing before the priority deadline for placement on May 15. The application opened April 1.
|

During Orientation, students will have the opportunity to participate in “In the Lou,” a program designed to help them explore St. Louis and immerse themselves in its rich culture. To participate, a waiver must be completed.

International First-year Student Move-in provides dedicated arrival support, including early residence hall check-in and airport shuttles, to help new international students smoothly transition to campus life.
|
|
|
| Move-in marks the start of life at WashU. Plan ahead for arrival times, unloading and residence hall check-in as your student settles into their new home.
|
|
|
|
Parent & Family Orientation is where families can connect with WashU staff, learn more about campus resources, and prepare for the transition alongside their student during this exciting first weekend on campus.

| New Student Orientation introduces students to life on campus, academic resources and community expectations as they begin their WashU experience.
