Hi! My name is Megan Krause and I am a senior Neuroscience and Behavior major in the College of Science with a Poverty Studies minor. I’m from Downers Grove, IL, and a proud BP Babe. I knew going into college that I wanted to study neuroscience. In February 2020, I came to campus for an admitted student's weekend, where I realized that Notre Dame was where I wanted to study. At an info session during the weekend, Dr. Michael told us all about the major and its opportunities. I walked away from this session knowing that there was an amazing neuroscience community. I was drawn to the program here because of the welcoming environment and support given to each student.
My time at Notre Dame has allowed my passion for neuroscience to grow and evolve. I have been a research assistant in the Sleep, Stress, and Memory Lab since the beginning of my sophomore year, and I am currently working on an honors thesis investigating the role of mood on problem solving and its mechanisms. I am also a member of the NSBH Senior Leadership Committee (you might recognize me from emails about apparel or lab shadowing!) where I have had the opportunity to work on major-wide events and opportunities. As I think back on my previous three years at Notre Dame, I am so grateful I chose to come here. I have had amazing opportunities that have grown my love for neuroscience and have led me to pursue a Ph.D. in neuroscience after graduation. I am so excited to see where my love for neuroscience will take me in the future.

The Senior Leadership Committee would like to invite all of you to participate in lab shadowing this semester! This is a great opportunity for those who are interested in becoming involved in research and for those currently in a lab! Those who might be looking into joining a lab have the opportunity to “shadow” those who are currently in research labs.
For those involved in a research lab: If you are willing to let students shadow you, please fill out this Google form to tell us a little bit about yourself and your research lab. Please be sure that your PI and/or lab protocols are able to accommodate having a shadowing student before filling out the form! Once we have a decent number of submissions, we will send out your information so that students interested in shadowing you can get in touch and work out a time to shadow.
For those interested in shadowing: Hang tight and keep an eye out for an email with more information. After we hear back from students willing to let you shadow, we will send out information on their lab and contact info. Once we send this out, it will be up to you to get in touch with a lab you want to shadow and work out the logistics! Please be mindful and respectful of their time as they are taking time out of their schedule to show you what their lab is up to.
