ILR a Virtual Success!

The Institute for Learning in Retirement (ILR) at Miami University promotes opportunities for individuals 50 and older to enrich their lives as they explore areas within science, the arts, society, technology, and other subjects of interest.
Just one "short" year ago, the decision to cancel the spring semester and move the fall 2020 semester online was met with trepidation and uncertainty. The task of training staff, volunteers, instructors, and students to pivot to virtual learning seemed insurmountable.
But with strong determination and effort, the outcome has far exceeded all expectations. Over 55 classes were successfully run, attended by hundreds of students (20% more than last semester), including many from around the country. We've learned that stretching beyond our comfort zone yields new and exciting opportunities and achievements.
Individuals age 50+ are invited to join ILR  this fall, October 4 - November 5, for another first: a blockbuster semester that includes in-person, hybrid, and virtual classes. Registration opens September 2. Visit our website to learn more, to propose a course, or to volunteer!
