Dear Senior,
Welcome back to Tufts. We are so excited to kick off your senior year and see what you create and accomplish this year. One of the amazing opportunities that Tufts offers is the chance to write a senior thesis. I know that sometimes the thesis can get lost in the shuffle of other exciting academic pathways, but writing a thesis is consistently named as the single most transformational intellectual experience of their undergraduate years by your graduating peers.
Logistical questions about the thesis (credits, timelines, IRB approval) can be answered at our under-construction but still-functional website. For anything that the website doesn't cover or for a more free wheeling chat about the value of a senior thesis for your future or your education, I will be holding drop-in office hours next week on Thursday, September 11, from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m in Eaton 260.
You can also always email me at Caitlin.casey@tufts.edu. Petitions to waive the dean’s list requirement may also be sent to me (by your thesis advisor) if you have not been on the dean’s list twice before your senior year. I look forward to chatting with you about the thesis, your research interests, and why the thesis isn't just like another class.
Warmly,
Caitlin Casey, PhD
Associate Dean of Undergraduate Advising
