Things are busy this time of year, so it's valuable to take a little time to stop and reflect. This month's newsletter can help you do that, with new data from Q12, policy updates, and a brand new exit survey that better aligns with Tech's workplace goals.
Plus, you've got a little more time to workshop and discuss goals with your employees, after an extension in the Performance Management Cycle.
But first, in case you missed it, click here to watch a video of the Feb. 25 People Leaders Forum, and click here to see the month’s slide decks. February’s forum spotlighted Georgia Tech’s Employer Brand team and provided an overview of HireVue, a hiring tool with a wealth of data.

As Georgia Tech leadership has promised, we're analyzing feedback from the recent Gallup Q12 Employee Engagement Survey in bite-size pieces we're calling "microlearning sessions."
This time, we're taking a closer look at one of the lowest-scoring indicators on the survey, Q10: I have a best friend at work. This indicator underscores the significance of workplace friendships in enhancing employee engagement and performance.
Since people leaders play such a crucial role in developing relationships within teams, here are some GTHR tips for fostering those relationships between colleagues and questions you can ask your team:
|
Building Team Relationships
|
- Look for opportunities to get team members together for events.
-
Encourage people to share stories about themselves.
- Invite individuals to recognize peers who go the extra mile in supporting other coworkers.
- Hold regular team-building sessions with your team.
- Address conflict on the team when it develops. Talk to team members separately as needed. Try to determine the reason for the conflict and identify possible solutions to resolve it.
-
Take the lead in sharing personal information about yourself. Simple conversations uncover common interests and encourage personal connections.
|
Questions to Ask Your Team
|
- Do you feel connected to our team?
-
Do you feel like you belong on our team and within our organization?
- Are there team members at work who you can count on and trust?
- What could I do to build or strengthen a team where friendships exist?
