A Year of Progress, Partnership, and Possibility |
As I reflect on the past year, I'm incredibly proud of what our university community accomplished together. The FY26 GW IT Annual Report highlights not only significant technology investments and modernization efforts, but also the partnerships that made them possible.
This year, we strengthened the foundation that supports teaching, learning, research, and administrative operations across GW. Here are just a few highlights:
- Modernized Learning Spaces: Refreshed 71 classrooms and expanded modern teaching technologies across campus, making hybrid, interactive, and flexible instruction easier to deliver.
-
Expanded Research Computing Capabilities: Increased research computing capacity and reduced wait times for Pegasus high-performance computing resources from hours to minutes, helping researchers focus more time on discovery.
-
Applied AI to Real University Challenges: Leveraged AI to improve operational efficiency, accelerate processes such as invoice management and IT support, and create innovative learning experiences for future healthcare professionals.
-
Advanced Sustainability and Modernization Goals: Continued our cloud migration efforts, reducing reliance on aging infrastructure while improving efficiency and lowering our environmental footprint.
While we're proud of the progress reflected in this report, we know there is more work ahead. We remain focused on reducing complexity, improving digital experiences, and making technology easier to navigate for faculty, staff, students, and researchers.
As we begin the fall semester, you'll continue to see those efforts take shape. Faculty can now check classroom technology status before arriving to teach, new GWorld tap-to-print capabilities are being deployed across campus, endpoint security protections have been enhanced through our annual device updates, and real-time chat support is available to help resolve technology issues more quickly.
As we work together toward the OneGW vision of student success, research excellence, and institutional effectiveness, GW IT remains committed to being a trusted partner, providing the reliable services and support that help our entire community move forward.

Tap to Print: Upgrades will Support GWorld Mobile Cards |
Upgrades have begun on GW Printing - Papercut printers. New card readers have been installed to allow GWorld Mobile cards to be used to release print jobs. Physical GWorld cards will also continue to work.
GW IT is coordinating with departments before the new readers are installed. Once card readers have been updated, you will need to reassociate your preferred GWorld card. Like other services on campus, picking one method, GWorld mobile or physical Card, will make for the best user experience.

SentinelOne Rollout Reaches Major Milestone |
This summer, our teams reached an important milestone by transitioning thousands of GW-managed devices to SentinelOne Singularity, strengthening endpoint protection across the university while continuing to simplify device management.
| of devices have been updated which is over 6500 devices
| | |
The transition was completed with minimal disruption to the GW community while improving our ability to detect, investigate, and respond to security threats. This achievement did not happen overnight. It was made possible by the foundational work completed during the Windows 11 Transition Project, which significantly improved device standardization across the university.
Security is a team effort. By keeping managed devices updated and connected, we can continue building a safer, more resilient technology environment that helps protect our community and the work that matters most. If you do not see the SentinelOne icon in your tray or menu bar, please connect to a GW network or VPN today to receive the update.
