The Things We Have Accomplished

This year started off with a bang (actually another Health Order, limiting event sizes) and yet we have persevered and accomplished some great things for our members.

54 wineries / 877 tickets
$77,000

44 wineries / 616 tickets
$63,000

Winter Wineland and Barrel Tasting were successful in bringing wine buyers out, and helping us ring in the new year, filled with possibilities!
The events generated revenue to keep the office open, pay staff (now at full hours) and move forward with new marketing initiatives.
We are obviously disappointed in the results from Gateway, but we gave it a try.

- Debbie and Beth are here for you, Mon-Fri
- Mysty Stewart is again managing our social media and press. We are currently able to have her work 1/3 of her prior schedule (budgeting constraints).
- Martin Zdybel works 3-4 hours a week on Admin projects - updating our featured members, mailing maps, tracking social posts and he helps with outreach for our Insider businesses and ambassadors. Don't be surprised when you start getting emails from Martin@wineroad.com
- Katharine Diaz works about 2 hours a month, from home, posting on social for our Wine Road Podcast

Our “Along the Wine Road” blog has been reinstated along with our
Varietal of the Month email blast – landing in 50,000+ in boxes.
The blog gets about 1000 eyes on it each month and our Varietal email has a 40% open rate, with the standard being closer to a 20% open rate. We are rocking it!

We created Choose Your Own Adventure, a digital idea book for our homepage.
We updated our website to include Award Winning Wines – so you can boast!
We began highlighting different wine types – with links to producers and a map to those wineries. Thus far: Rhone Style, Sparkling and Italians!

The award-winning Wine Road Podcast continues to gain listeners (1500-2000 downloads per episode) and we have added a new segment called “Fast Five” with recipes from winery and lodging members.
We just recorded our 150th episode!
We highly encourage all members to share a link to WineRoadPodcast.com within your newsletters or on social. The more listeners we gain, the better for everyone.
We're thrilled to announce that Ron Rubin Winery has reached out to say they wanted to cover all production costs for our podcast for another year. That is awesome!

We fine-tuned the details for our Wine Road Insider (consumer club). This is set to launch in a few days. Here we go!
The cost is $100 a year for a guest to become a Wine Road Insider and enjoy various perks. We hope this brings NEW faces to your winery or lodging.
We are currently developing Wine Road sponsored seminars as a perk for Insider members: Russian River Pinot Neighborhoods, Create Your Own Zinfandel Blend, Cabernet Master Class, Winemaking 101 and Esprit du Rhone.
We'd love to add more wineries to the perks page. Click the link below for more details.

Since the first of the year, Wine Road has covered the cost for 200 winery staff to take the new Responsible Beverage Server training online, and we provided in-person training for an additional 40 members. All winery hospitality staff will need this training by July 1, 2022..
We have scheduled an ADA Website Compliance seminar-taking place May 11th. This informative presentation will show you how to get your website updated..

Using our subscriber list of 53,000, we have offered members the opportunity to connect with wine buyers via our Varietal of the Month email, our Valentine offers and most recently our special offers to Barrel Tasting attendees.
This has proven to be a great way to introduce our wineries to new wine buyers.
Remember, our emails average a 40% open rate and a 17-20% click rate. Dramatically above the average!

There are always lots of "little things" that also help to propel us forward.

Certified Distribution picked up a pallet of maps to deliver throughout the greater bay area.
We mailed nearly 500 maps via online requests, and Martin has delivered CASES of maps to visitor centers throughout Sonoma.
|
|
Customers are heading back and they need our help, so we've fulfilled about 60 concierge requests.
Many are arriving in larger groups of 10-20, finally able to get together with friends. We direct them to our members doors.

Beth was interviewed for Mission Matters and she was just on KSRO with Karissa Kruse and Steve Jaxon.
Mysty just pulled together 3 press trips, as journalists are once again interested in getting out and visiting.

What's on deck for the 2nd quarter....
- Developing an “internal” Ambassador program with interested winery staff, to help support their peers.
- Continue to fine-tune Insiders and kick off promotions.
- Create an editorial calendar for the balance of 2022, for monthly press releases. This will give members the opportunity to submit their experiences and lodging offers as they fit the criteria for the calendar.
- Full-court press to promote our Wine Road Podcast as the “go to” resource for guests wanting to connect with wineries and the perfect lodging when planning a visit. Goal of increasing our listeners by 20%.
