'International Connections' Series Brings the World to MacMillan Hall
The staff of International Student and Scholar Services was regularly hearing from students and community members who wanted lists of people from a certain country or region so they could get together. For privacy reasons, it was not possible to give out that information. Yet the staff recognized the value of students being able to meet other students through some shared cultural or regional connection.
So Dan Sinetar, assistant director of International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS), found a way to make that connection happen at MacMillan Hall, launching the International Connections series to bring people together in meetups.

Mapping Global Learning Webinar
Faculty are invited to join a free webinar, Mapping Global Learning—Exploring the Process of Applying Global Learning in the Curriculum and Co-Curriculum. Global Learning is an integrative form of learning that intersects with many learning outcomes central various fields of study; however, these intersections aren’t always intuitive to learners. Educators play a critical role in making these interconnections visible, relevant and reachable. This webinar series brings together faculty program directors, program staff, administrators and scholars to discuss their ongoing efforts to make global learning outcomes an integrative part of the essential learning that students need within their programs of study.

Plans Underway for International Education Week
International Education Week (IEW), which takes place each November, is an initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education that draws attention to the value of international education. Miami University observes IEW annually with a wide range of activities and events in order to celebrate the diverse array of cultures on our campus and provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity for global engagement on our campus.
The planning committee has been busy! Events are still being finalized, but in the meantime, we are inviting you to help us recognize colleagues and student creativity in the following ways:

Get Ready for the Latin American and Caribbean UniDiversity Festival
Why is the annual UniDiversity Festival such a popular event from year to year? As senior Efrain Pérez says, "This festival, like every year before it, will be a beautiful celebration of unity and community, but I also know that there are some wonderful surprises in store that are must-sees for those who have or have not attended in the past. UniDiversity is a must for every Miami student and everyone else in the community, and I cannot wait to see it yet again this year."
All are welcome to join this community celebration, part of the Hispanic Latino American Heritage Month. We hope to see you there!

Annual Gandhi Birthday Celebration October 3
Have you heard of the Schueberfouer? The Schueberfouer is a giant annual fun fair in Luxembourg city. It has been held every year since 1340 when it was created by John the Blind! The fair, which ran from August 19 until September 8 this year, featured rides, games, street vendors, and a huge variety of food.
This year, our MUDEC students had a blast at the fair enjoying the rides, tasting gromperekichelcher, and even getting the chance to meet the Prime Minister!
In case you'd like to be part of this Miami tradition in the future, we are excited to report that Summer and Fall 2023 applications are open.
