| Fall Reopening Community Conversations – The next round of our Regional Community Conversations begins this Sunday with our North Side community! We'll have doctors from the Children's Hospital of Richmond as well as some of our student leaders to discuss fall reopening. Check out the flyers below or visit www.rvaschools.net/conversations for meeting times and login information.

| Engagement Office in Action – Our Engagement Office is out in the community every day, sharing updates, answering questions, and gathering feedback. We believe it's important to meet families where they are, which is why the team is always out and about. To see them in action, take a minute to watch the video below. Huge shout out to Chip Jackson of Oakwood Arts for creating this!

| RPS in the News – Many thanks to Kenya Hunter from the RTD for her story on Ms. Robinson, one of our teachers who's retiring after 44 years with the division – 43 of which were at Overby-Sheppard! I also want to shout out Mrs. Donaldson from our Transportation Department, who's retiring after 48 years with RPS! These two extraordinary individuals represent so many others in our division who dedicate their entire lives to the children and families of RPS, and who exemplify what it means to #TeachWithLove, #LeadWithLove, and #ServeWithLove. We are forever in their debt and wish them the happiest of retirements!

- A huge congratulations to Woodville Elementary School and their inaugural robotics team. Through the awesome facilitation of their teachers, Ms. Kayleigh Kennedy and Ms. Madison Tyler, students learned real-world engineering by designing a team "brand," honing their teamwork skills, and building and programming robots to play difficult field games. An added thank you to Assistant Principal Ms. Dava Allen Miller for her leadership and support.
- I want to give a huge MLK shout-out to our staff who braved the rain and thunder to prepare hot dogs and hamburgers for our Perfect Attendance Student Celebration: Mr. Murray, Mr. Smith, Ms. Shaw, Ms. Scott, Mr. T. Carter, Mr. Robinson, Mr. Shepsu, Dr. Hopkins, Ms. Pullen, Mr. Glasper, Mr. Barner, Mr. Dick, Ms. Brown, Ms. Williams, Ms. Dance, Ms. Depriest, Mr. Moore, Mr. Cooper, Mr. Elam, and Mr. Booker. You humble and inspire me with your dedication and commitment to our students and the community. MLK Strong!
- I would like to shout out Principal Waller, Joi Thomas, Tia Carver, and Ms. Reynolds for joining me in a moment of levity yesterday when we lost all power at Boushall Middle School. We turn lemons into lemonade at Boushall! #EagleExcellence
- I would like to give a major shoutout to the STEM Ladies of Henderson Middle School – Nimaako Nelson, Brittany Williams, Chelsey Harvey, Tracy Beckford, Christal Bacon, Olivia Polk, Teresa Scott, Kiera Abdelkader, Briana Harr, Raeshar Shelton, and Brianna Upton – for planning such an amazing virtual field day for our 6th grade STEM students! The students were all engaged, excited, super positive and had a great time! These women are truly inspirational and give their all each and every day to their students! I am beyond proud of each of you; thank you all so much!
- I would like to shoutout all of our Custodial/Facility Team members for their willingness to assist during the emergency flooding on Wednesday afternoon. Special thanks to: Mr. Harry Chargois III-Facilities Worker, Mr. Augustine Marte-Facilities Worker, Mr. Anthony Robinson-Night Security, Ms. Jessie McClaine-Blackwell Preschool, Mr. Marvin McNair-Cardinal Elementary, Mr. James Boone-Reid Elementary, Mr. John Toombes-Boushall Middle, Mr. James May-Blackwell Elementary, Mr. Mark Beard-Broad Rock Elementary, Mr. Brad Johnston-Brown Middle, Mr. Kevin Johnson-Wythe High, Ms. Bonnie Bauman-Maymont Elementary. Teamwork makes the Custodial & Facilities Departments dream work!
- I'd like to shout out the Communities in Schools site coordinators at T.C. Boushall Middle School, Hannah Martin and Taylor Bono! Yesterday they coordinated home visits to seven families to recognize them for their outstanding efforts in attendance! Four parents were selected in a raffle for their excellent partnership with the school! And three students received armloads of goodies for having perfect attendance for every day in every class for the entire school year!!! But, they weren't finished! They turned right around a facilitated a workshop for 8th graders transitioning to high school! In this workshop, Ms. Bono and Ms. Martin collaborated with counselors and administrators to put on a program where our 8th grade scholars had the opportunity to learn more about the expectations for high school and ask any questions that they had. They also had actual high school students available to talk about their experiences! These ladies are tireless and their love for our entire learning community is endless!! We love you, Ms. Martin and Ms. Bono!!!!!
- Shout out to Chele Miller and LaToya Graham! These two Miles Jones staff members have been incredible supporting Broad Rock during SOL testing. We would not have had successful testing days with out them! Their competence and confidence will serve them well as future RPS leaders!!!
- I'd like to send shout outs to Nurse Sonja Roberts @ Mary Munford Elementary & Nurse Sandra Griffin @ G. H. Reid Elementary for their tremendous assistance at George Wythe High School. You guys are amazing!
