Nobody Trashes District 8

Did you See the Anti-Litter Campaign Start on Facebook and Instagram?  If you live in the  D8 zip codes, you may see this campaign.  Please start reporting littler so we can work to keep District 8 Clean!

From Apple Valley Road to Amqui Station to Gra-Mar Acres, hundreds of pieces of waste litter our roadways. Did you know that it is easy to report litter to Metro Public Works? Click to learn about the Hub Nashville system: http://bit.ly/hubNash-MadTown

Thank you Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works, TDOT, Nobody Trashes Tennessee, District 8 Beautification Commissioner Abby Eitneier Tolen and our friends at Nashville People Project for a great beginning!

Other news on Old Due West:
After a meeting with the neighbors, I have begun the process of renaming Old Due West Ave to Skyline Ridge Drive.  Music City Solar, the extended HCA Skyline parking area and plans for a future park and walk/bike around the solar panels and surrounding the Bashaw Historic Cemetery ( seen in the photo below) discussions are still underway.  The area where you see this event tent can take new landscape plantings for a park as long as trees don't grow tall enough to shade the panels.

Owner Occupied Townhomes and Workforce Apartments with Trails and Small Shop Proposed Across from Music City Solar

The recent mixed-use development proposed across the street neighborhood discussion was well received.  The plan involves road improvements all the way to Dickerson Pike. Preliminary drafts submitted to Planning for review are pictured below and include public trails in the conservation overlay.

 Top 8 FAQ:

  1. Road Name Changes Submitted for the long-awaited Madison Station Blvd.  All Right of ways are being drafted and Douglas and the UnnamedDriveway will be renamed so that then the new extension can be attached to it without confusion. Construction window on time to start this Autumn and be complete by this time next Summer!
  2. I'm getting a hard hat look inside the Madison Library soon and will post photos and video of the new remodel progress.  Reopening set before Thanksgiving!
  3. Oakwood Park making progress, we are working on the deep trails with our friends at Metro Parks and SORBA.  Will also get a progress tour and send photos and timelines as soon as I get them.
  4. Urban Services Lights still going up on existing poles and new poles being added.  Public Works will put out door hangers with trash and recycling information within the next few weeks.  All services are to be implemented by Sep 30.
  5. Broadmoor is finally getting repaved.
  6. Sidewalks take FOREVER and I'm hoping for an update soon on Hart, Maplewood Trace, and Dickerson Pike projects.
  7. The crazy bumpy hill at One Mile Parkway at Lowes to the Gallatin Pike light is going to be on the next "Intersection repair" list.  Special thanks to neighboring Doug Pardue of D10 for agreeing that we both want this fixed before the road gets repaved all the way through past the bridge on the D10 side.
  8. How can I start a Neighborhood Association? -- Just kidding -- Not enough people are asking this question!  Please reach out to the Neighborhood Resource Center today!

New Townhomes at Briarville and Creative Way in Madison

The townhome development across the street from the Shell with entrance off Creative Way near Nossi sign will consist of 26 units, 2 bedroom and 2 bathrooms, a few with garages, but all with rooftop decks, and all beautiful contemporary designs. They have not yet named the townhomes, but they hope to incorporate a creative theme to the name, to go with the Creative Way address.   The project is slated to start relatively soon as the grading permit will be issued and with the permit, they will begin work.
I hope to have Renderings soon to share. Because this is being accomplished without a rezoning, we will see designs a bit later than I like.

The parties involved are:
Engineer - Sean DeCoster with Civil Site
General Contractor - Jeremy Leggo - Highland Homes
Architect - Justin Lowe - Centric Architect
Realtor and representative to Ellington Group - Kamal Saba - Village Real Estate
Ellington Group, G.P. - partner's Tom, Jimmy, Melinda and Walter
‪I am proud to be working with Walk Bike Nashville, WeGo Transit,  Metropolitan Nashville Department of Public Works and Councilman Anthony Davis to make Gallatin Pike safer. Particularly at the Due West Ave. Intersection.‬

Over the past 10 years, traffic fatalities as a whole have been falling in Tennessee and Nashville-Davidson County. However, pedestrian and bicycle fatalities have been on the rise. #LookForMe is a campaign to be a smarter driver and help us achieve safer streets.
