| FAQ of the Month What's the difference between a resume and a CV? In the United States, the curriculum vitae (CV) is used almost exclusively when pursuing a job in academia. The primary differences between a resume and a CV are length, specialized content, and audience. Visit the Career Center site for CV and resume tips and attend resume, CV and cover letter workshops to strengthen your documents.

This free one-day regional conference brings together grad students, postdocs, and faculty to discuss what it’s like to work at teaching-intensive institutions and how to apply for faculty positions. Participate in a series of talks, panel presentations, and networking opportunities. Faculty will be available to review and offer advice on CVs and cover letters. Register here.
Join faculty, alumni, and deans in this annual workshop on preparing for and making the transition to an academic career. Discuss searching for academic jobs, the academic hiring process, negotiating first offers, and the unique rewards and challenges to the various types of academic positions.
