Forever Chemicals and Immediate Responses: Addressing PFAS in our Environment

On Thursday, January 26, at 12 noon1 p.m. in the Curtis Hall Multipurpose Room, join Martin Suuberg, the former Commissioner of Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection, for a lecture about PFAS. PFAS are a classification of manufactured chemicals commonly found in drinking water (among other places) that we honestly don't know much about. Enjoy free pizza while learning what the latest research says and what government responses have been regarding these widely-used, long-lasting chemicals. Both in-person and virtual.

Submit an Event

Students and Student Organizations can submit events to JumboLife! Add your event by Thursday at 12 noon each week, and we'll include it in the Jumbo Digest on Sunday.

Announcements and Updates

Waitlist Reminder

Waitlists will be purged and turned off on January 25, a week before the fall semester add deadline, to provide adequate time to enroll in other courses if you are unable to move off the waitlist. We understand you are still hoping to get into the course(s) for which you are waitlisted. We want to be sure you are being proactive in both determining whether or not you are able to move off a waitlist into a class AND have a back-up plan in case that does not happen.
Please remember that having access to a class Canvas page is not the same as being enrolled. Waitlisted students have access to Canvas, but if you do not see your enrollment in SIS, you are not yet enrolled in the class. Students still on the waitlist should speak to their professor about the likelihood of enrollment and pursue a backup plan as needed. After waitlists are purged, any student not officially enrolled in the class in SIS will lose access to Canvas.

Academic Reminders

Some reminders to start the term:
  • Make any changes to your schedule before the Add deadline (February 1).
  • If you have an Incomplete, complete coursework as soon as possible.
  • Note important deadlines on the Academic Calendar.
  • To be full-time, students must be enrolled in at least 12 credits. Athletes and international students must be full-time. (Seniors: check with Athletics or the International Center for exceptions.)
  • If waitlisted, contact the instructor about getting in and make a backup plan.
  • Reach out to your Advising team with any questions!
Advising Drop-Ins
SOE: Major Declaration Drop-in Advising will take place at Kindlevan Café on Thursday, January 26, at 23 p.m.

Senior Portraits Final Round

The final round of Senior Portraits begins on January 30 in Campus Center Room 112. If you have not had your portrait taken, please sign up now. The portrait sittings are free, and there is no obligation to purchase a package. The only way to get photo in the portrait section of the 2023 Senior Memory Book is to have your portrait taken with on-campus photographers. This is the final opportunity.
