The Oh-So-Scary! Off-Campus Housing Fair and Panel

Join us on Monday, October 31, at 12 noon–3 p.m. at the Joyce Cummings Center first floor atrium for our first annual Off-Campus Housing Fair! Chat with resources from the University and off-campus offices to assist with your off-campus housing questions.
Then, join us Monday, October 31, at 4–5 p.m. at the Curtis Hall Multipurpose Room to learn more about the off campus housing process and ask professionals about their expertise in navigating the process. Panelists include people from Somerville Office of Housing Stability, Financial Aid, Tufts Office of Government and Community Relations, and more.

Tufts Programs Abroad Information Sessions

Join the program directors and Tufts Global Education staff for information sessions about Tufts Programs Abroad. Pizza will be served; please RSVP.
Join the Tufts-in-Paris and Tufts-in-London directors on Thursday, November 3, at 4–5 p.m. in SMFA Room A310 for a drop-in information session for SMFA students interested in the Paris College of Art and Beaux Arts options in Paris or University of the Arts, London. Stop by at any point in the hour to chat with the directors and ask questions.

Trick-or-Treating With President Monaco

President Monaco will be handing out candy on Monday, October 31, at 6–11 p.m. Be sure to stop by Gifford House to go trick-or-treating!

The Afghan Banking Crisis: What Happened and Where We Go From Here

On Wednesday, November 2, at 5:30 p.m., join us in Ballou Hall Coolidge Room for a presentation and reception with visiting Afghan scholar Mir Ahmad Shekib! With vast experience in central banking, Mir led efforts to develop the first national financial inclusion strategy for Afghanistan in collaboration with the World Bank Group and public, private, and non-government stakeholders. He will present on the current liquidity crisis facing Afghanistan's banking sector. Registration required.

Volunteer in the Local Community on November 5

The Leonard Carmichael Society is organizing two volunteer events on Saturday, November 5. Volunteer with Massachusetts Voter Table at 10:30 a.m.–2 p.m. to canvass on Massachusetts ballot questions 1 and 4 or with Mutual Aid Medford and Somerville (MAMAS) at 2–6 p.m. to close down their community gardens for the winter. Transportation will be provided. This is an easy way to engage with the community, meet other Tufts students, and work alongside incredible local organizations!

There is just one day left to submit your application for the Tufts Campaign School 2023. Network and connect with campaign leaders, reporters, former candidates, and talented Tufts alumni while you produce a portfolio that includes polling analyses, campaign talking points, social media strategies, and more. Apply—before it's too late!—for this unique opportunity, all while earning academic credit.

Academic Reminders

The advising period begins tomorrow, October 31! To prepare for registration:
  • Make an appointment with your advisor to discuss spring 2023 classes and have your advising hold lifted
  • View your registration time in SIS and confirm you have no other registration holds
  • Add courses and backup options to your shopping cart
  • Validate to confirm you meet course requirements
  • Attend advising drop-ins for additional support. View the A&S drop-in schedule.
  • SOE drop-ins will take place at Kindlevan Café on Mondays at 10:15–11:15 a.m. and Thursdays at 2–3 p.m.

Vote and Help Tufts Center for Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice (CBMHRJ) Win a $25,000 Grant Today!

The Tufts Center for Black Maternal Health and Reproductive Justice is a semi-finalist for a $25,000 Heart of Healthcare Grant and also gets featured on an episode of the Heart of Healthcare podcast. Intent to Study Abroad Deadline: November 1

If you're considering studying abroad in fall 2023, spring 2024, or the full year 2023–2024, the deadline to submit your Intent to Study Abroad Form is November 1, 2022. This is a mandatory step in the process; students who do not register their intent by the November 1 deadline will not be invited to the application phase of the process and will become ineligible for further consideration. Registration of intent is non-binding; however, you must submit if you are considering studying abroad.

Senior Portraits Round 2

Attention seniors! Sign up for your senior portraits. Photographers will be back on campus the week of November 7 in Campus Center Room 112. Sign up now for your free portrait sitting. This will be the final time photographers will be on campus this semester. Having your portrait taken with the campus photographers is the only way to have it in the 2023 Senior Memory Book.

Cherish Chinatown Challenge

Tufts' Cherish Chinatown has organized a challenge for the Tufts community to support businesses in Chinatown, the home of our Boston health sciences campus, throughout November. For every purchase you make at a small business in Chinatown, you will complete a short form for a raffle entry to win a $25 gift card to local restaurants. Five winners will be drawn each week. All participants are entered to win the grand prize.
