State Softball Media Credential Information
Please read all the information carefully.

Who can apply for credentials?
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union’s Board of Directors adopted the following policy regarding media credentials: “The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union shall grant, at the discretion of management, media access credentials for its state championship events to radio, television, print and online media to those organizations or companies which routinely provide coverage during regular season play for either teams or individuals which are participating in the tournament, or which regularly offer general coverage of the sport. The number of credentials issued to each organization or company shall be held at the discretion of management. Private talent evaluators, scouting services, private photographers, and photo studios shall not be granted access to any venues restricted for media access.”

Requesting Credentials: Press credential requests must be made before 4:30 p.m. Thursday, July 17. When requesting credentials, please include ALL the individuals covering the tournament and the teams you are following.  Media that have the 2024-2025 IGHSAU/IHSAA All-Tournament pass do not need to apply for credentials.

Download the PDF to your desktop before filling out the form. Once you fill out the form, please email it to Haley Freesemann at haley@ighsau.org

Student/School Media: Schools may request media credentials for one student and one school-employed media representative (this includes videographers, social media, yearbook/student newspaper). A school administrator (AD/Advisor) needs to download the credential application (see above for the link), fill it out, and submit the name(s) to Haley Freesemann at haley@ighsau.org. The deadline for this form is Thursday, July 17.

Picking up your state tournament materials: When you enter Rogers Park in the west team/media parking lot, you will pick up your program. There will be designated signage so you will know where to enter the diamond. IGHSAU personnel will be at the media entrance. Please display the parking pass in your vehicle.

Press Seating at Rogers Park: There are seating areas for working press on Channel Seeds Field and Iowa Central Field. Seating in both press boxes is limited to approximately 10 to 12 spots. Priority access will be given to media with daily deadlines. The media area behind home plate on both diamonds remains and will also be available. Priority will be given to radio stations that are broadcasting games.

Photography Spots: Photo towers will be behind the third baseline on both fields for the press to shoot video and photographs.

Box Scores: Box scores will be posted on the IGHSAU website. Copies of box scores will only be made if specifically requested.

Interview Area: An interview area will be set up near the center of the diamond (near the concession stand). Coaches and 1-3 players will be brought by IGHSAU personnel to the interview area following each first-round, semifinal, and championship contest. There will be no interview requests for consolation games.

This is a reminder that media should bring WiFi hot spots, extension cords, and power outlets.

Phone Lines: Phone lines are no longer available to order at Rogers Park. Broadcasters will need to broadcast via cell phone. It is recommended that stations have a designated hotspot.

Consolation Games: There will be consolation games on Tuesday and Wednesday on Yankee and Dodger Diamonds. There are no phone jacks in place on those fields. Any radio station with a team playing on those diamonds must broadcast via cell phone.

Consolation games may be video live-streamed for $400 per game.
