Thank you to members (President Denise Cooper and Nicole Dunn) of the Savannah GA Chapter of The Links, Inc. and Kim Gusby of WSAV for helping Greenbriar celebrate Chatham Literacy Week by reading to the children at Windy’s Preschool. We know that reading to children at an early age builds a solid foundation for literacy. “Early literacy means helping children develop a rich vocabulary, self-expression, and reading comprehension- tools they need to become successful readers and lifelong learners”.
Greenbriar is involved in various literacy initiatives in the community, e.g., United Way of the Coastal Empire’s Read United and the Deal Center’s Language as a Missing Link & Missed Opportunity. We also partner with the One Hundred Children’s Foundation which provides books to our child care centers on regular basis. Early literacy provides a window to the world for young learners.
