Dear Student Affairs colleagues,

As we come to the end of the academic year, I want to extend my gratitude for your continued dedication to our mission. I’m really proud of what we’ve accomplished together this year. Thank you!

With graduation activities starting this week, please take time to celebrate your students. Our affinity student celebrations run from May 7-15 and the university-wide May Commencement Ceremony is May 12 at 9 a.m.

I can’t wait to spend the day with you at our Professional Development Day (PDD), Wednesday, May 14. The committee told me about the exceptional session submissions, and I look forward to learning from you.

Also at PDD, we’re collecting donations of gently used or new professional clothing in support of our Professional Clothes Closet. Look for the wagon to make your donation.

At this year's Professional Development Day, we invite you to bring new or gently used professional apparel to help stock the Professional Clothes Closet and ensure equitable access to free business attire for students. The wagon for donations will be available to fill throughout the day, including at the opening session and lunch. Those who donate will be entered to win a piece of WashU gear.

The Athletics Department is holding a number of camps this summer, ranging from youth camps to high school prospect camps. These camps are great for kids trying to get into sports or for student-athletes who are looking for high-level instruction. Take a look at the full list of camps. 

As you plan for the 2025-2026 academic year, review the religious holiday calendar to avoid scheduling conflicts with major holidays and to raise your awareness of important dates for many in our community. Contact Callista Isabelle with questions.

Reporting information through the survey helps the CCE enhance employer relations and the services provided to students and alumni. All information is strictly confidential and used only in aggregate format for reporting purposes. 

Applications for the Undergraduate and Graduate Student Affairs Advisory Boards (USAAB and GSAAB) will be collected on a rolling basis through July 11. Final notifications for both USAAB and GSAAB will be made by August 1, at which time the fall 2025 meeting schedule will also be available.

The Reverend Callista Isabelle, director of the Office for Religious, Spiritual and Ethical Life is the 2025 Gloria W. White Distinguished Service Award recipient. 

The award is the highest honor from the WashU Office of Human Resources, and it honors a staff member who goes beyond their daily work to make an impact on WashU.

The Student Affairs Professional Development Day is held annually in May for Student Affairs staff members. The event was created by Dr. Anna Gonzalez to focus on staff development and connection.

The Student Affairs newsletter is sent the first Tuesday of each month. If your department has content you would like featured, submit via the link below at least a week prior to the edition you would like to be included in.

Examples of items to submit are highlights of new initiatives or programming; staff achievements, publications or awards; department spotlights and upcoming events you would like Student Affairs staff members to know about.
