International Education Week (IEW) takes place this year between November 15 - 19. Here at Miami, we will offer in-person and virtual events to celebrate the diverse array of cultures on our campus and provide students, faculty, and staff the opportunity for global engagement.
Many events are still in the works, but here are some of the highlights of the week so far:
- International Games Night at the University Libraries (Saturday, Nov. 13) Head to King Library for games, snacks, and prizes. Open to all!
- ACIREMA: An International Education Simulation (Wednesday, Nov. 17). Participants will assume the role of an incoming student from outside the U.S. and be asked to navigate the necessary offices and processes to begin studying at Miami as an international student. Job enrichment credit is available to eligible staff, and a boxed lunch will be provided. Space is limited, so register today!
- International Education Week Keynote Address & Awards Reception (Thursday, Nov. 18). University of Vermont Vice Provost for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and Miami alumnus Dr. Amer F. Ahmed will deliver an address, followed by recognition of the winners of the student contests and the recipients of the Faculty Award for Innovation in Global Programming and the Donald Nelson Award for Outstanding International Student Support (staff). The award announcements will be followed by light refreshments.

Trick or Treat at the Château
A ghoulishly good time was had by all when the MUDEC Student Faculty Council (SFC) and student volunteers created a special outreach opportunity for a local primary school in Differdange. One hundred fifty students from six different 3rd- 5th grade classes came to the Château on October 13th to decorate both a paper pumpkin and a paper cup to later be used to trick or treat!
