2019 Fogelman College of Business & Economics FALL FEST

See what a degree in business will get you and meet FCBE, the largest and coolest College on campus. You can visit each department quickly, vote for your best table and then have lunch - on us (while supplies last). Our new dean—Damon Fleming—will have a town hall meeting from 11am to 11:30 am. Walk a Mile in Her Shoes

On September 25, at 5:30 PM, Sexual Assault Prevention & Awareness Coalition (SAPAC), Memphis Area Women's Council, and Title IX: Prevention Center are hosting the 9th Annual Walk A Mile In Her Shoes advocacy walk. This event is designed to combat sexual violence and recognize men as allies in this cause. The event will start at the Ramesses Statue on campus.

Safe Haven Meet-up!

Join us for our first Save Haven Meet-up this Wednesday at 4:30-5:30 UC 201! Safe Haven meet-ups are student-led support groups for victims of sexual assault and their allies. Hope to see you there!

Fall Career Fair

The UofM Fall Career Fair will be Wednesday, September 25th from 1-4PM in the University Center Ballroom!. As the largest campus-wide, all majors career fair, students and alumni can meet and connect with recruiters from major organizations to explore full-time career and internship opportunities. Business Professional Attire required for admission.

Fall Career Development Workshop

Workshop will focus on helping students identify their strengths and weakness and how they interact with others in the workplace. The goal of the workshop is to help graduate students who are not seeking a faculty appointment be successful on the job market.

Fall Graduate School Information Fair

The annual Fall Graduate School Information Fair will present graduate faculty and students to discuss the UofM's growing number of degrees and certificates. Attending students will also have opportunities to speak with representatives from other visiting colleges nationwide to learn about their courses of study and campus life.

Safety Palooza

The outdoor safety fair by the fountain will feature members of the campus community showcasing best practices to ensure safety at the UofM. attendees can expect booths focusing on fire safety, laboratory safety, office safety and industrial safety. Booths will be offering hands-on education, freebies, and practical takeaways to help empower attendees about their own safety. Free pizza will be available while supplies last.

Domestic Violence Summit

The Domestic Violence Summit is scheduled for Friday, September 27th, from 10:30 to 12:30 am, at the University of Memphis, University Center Ballroom. The goal is for audience members to come away from the Summit with resources that can help individuals affected by domestic violence, as well as fresh ideas about how our community can begin to address domestic violence. Mearl Purvis, FOX News 13 Anchor, will serve as moderator for the Summit, and representatives from the Memphis Police Department, Kindred Place, and the Family Safety Center, among others, will speak as panel participants. The DV Summit began in 2016 and is a joint effort between Southwest Tennessee Community College, the University of Memphis, and the Athena Project.

Sickle Cell Awareness Day

The University of Memphis and The Sickle Cell Foundation of Tennessee are proud to present Sickle Cell Awareness Day. This event is FREE and open to the public. Stop by the University Center on Tuesday, October 1st from 10 am - 1 pm to hear stories from local sickle cell warriors, see artwork from a local artist with sickle cell disease, and visit tables from local sponsors sharing information and their research.

Leader to Leader: Kandace Stewart

Join us for our second Leader to Leader event of the semester, with special guest speaker Kandace Stewart, the Business Operations & External Affairs Director for the Memphis Grizzlies. This event will be held in the University Center Shelby Room and will be focused on the Learning & Reasoning SLPC. Lunch will be served beginning at 12:00PM, with Kandace Stewart beginning her presentation at 12:30PM and concluding at 1:30PM.

SLPC Conference

Join us at the SLPC Conference to get advice on how you can pursue your dream, learn how to build your brand and explore opportunities to gain experience. Lunch is provided!

Safety Net Now Accepting Executive Board Applications!

The Safety Net Organization is now accepting Executive Board applications for the Spring 2020 semester! You can apply for as many positions as you wish. Please also have a reference complete the Recommendation Form that is available. Applications will close after Fall Break (Oct. 17) at 11:59 pm.

2019 Family of the Year Nominations Open!

Parent & Family Services invites students to nominate their family, parents and guardians whose lives have been an inspiration to their students and others as the 2019 Family of the Year. All families and parents who are nominated by their student will receive a congratulatory letter and a copy of the essay submission. Winners are encouraged to attend the Parent & Family Weekend Homecoming Parade on Friday, November 1 at 5:30 pm and MUST be able to participate in the Football Game on Saturday, November 2, and the Parent & Family Weekend Brunch on Sunday, November 3 at 10:00 am. Tickets will be provided for the game.

December 2019 Student Commencement Speaker

Two December 2019 approved graduating students will be selected to be one of two commencement speakers for Sunday, December 15 at the FedExForum
