Dear Faith family,
We would like to thank you for allowing us to serve your family in the 2019-20 school year. The year did not end the way that we would have desired, but the Lord is in control, and we trust His way. Our families were great in the online school scenario that we finished, and we thank you for helping us be able to educate your children, even though they were not in the school buildings. Below, you will find the answers to some frequently asked questions.
Is high school graduation on Saturday open to the public? Graduation will be closed to the public this year. The only people allowed to attend are the invited family members of the seniors. We are only allowing a limited number of family members to attend this year. With that said, we will not allow entry to the graduation if the person is not in the family group of a senior. FCS is seeking to be conscious of the coronavirus situation as well as desiring to have graduation for our seniors. We are thankful that we were able to have some type of graduation for the seniors. To be very clear, graduation will not be open to anyone except the invited family members of the seniors. Other FCS students and other FCS families are not able to attend the high school graduation this year. The graduation will be available on Facebook Live on the school’s Facebook page.
How can we support the senior class? If the weather is okay, the seniors will be available outside after the program around 6:30 pm on Saturday. If you would like to drive through the parking lot and honk at them or speak to them, you are welcome to do that. If the weather does not allow them to go outside, the drive thru option will not be available.
What is the FCS plan for the fall? FCS is moving ahead to start school in the normal classroom setting in August. We will continue to monitor the coronavirus situation throughout the summer and will make parents aware of any changes. The first day of school is August 19.
How is FCS making plans to handle students in classes and possible coronavirus adjustments? FCS is gathering information from governmental officials, our Christian school association and medical professionals to determine what changes will need to be made. As the start of school approaches, we will be notifying parents of protocols that the school will put in place. Obviously, some of these protocols are changing daily; so, to commit to any protocols today for August would not be practical.
Is FCS adjusting the calendar for next year? We are currently reviewing the calendar to see if any adjustments need to be made. Once we are done, a calendar with the major dates of the school year will be released.
Is FCS scheduling sports events for next school year? We are working on sports schedules for next year.
How is enrollment looking for FCS? This is probably the number one question asked. We have been blessed with a strong re-enrollment of existing students, as well as a high level of interest in the K5 through 12th grades. K5, 2nd, 7th and 9th grades are getting close to full. If you know of someone who is considering these grades, I would encourage them to enroll as soon as they possibly can. Help us advertise our two preschools as well – the one here at FCS and the preschool at Beulah Baptist in Bennett.
Are there any other events that FCS is trying to have in the next few weeks?
K5 graduation will be on Friday, June 19. It will be a different format than normal. FCS will be sending information to K5 parents in the next few days. Attendance will be limited to immediate family members. FCS is also attempting to have the Sophomore Play on Saturday, June 20. Attendance will be limited to immediate family. The play will be livestreamed on the school’s Facebook page. The play is a developing situation, and we hope to be able to perform the play. Information will be coming home as the event approaches.
FCS will be in contact via our weekly letter throughout the summer. We thank you again for your support of the school. We trust that you have a great summer and look forward to seeing you in August.
