Dear parents and families,
I hope you are enjoying all that the summer brings. In just a couple of months, WashU will become your student’s home away from home! We know this transition can be challenging for families too. Don’t worry. Our mission in the Division of Student Success is to give your student the resources they need to thrive!
There are many ways that you can continue to feel connected as your student navigates this new chapter of life:
-
The Incoming Families Guide includes important dates and move-in information, but also gives you a glimpse into what your student’s life will be like at WashU.
-
Parent & Family Orientation is Friday, August 14-Sunday, August 16. It is designed to help families understand the student experience, campus resources and ways to support your student’s transition into university life. Registration opens in July.
-
This summer, I encourage you to join us for our Family Webinar Series to answer your questions on everything you need to know about moving your student to WashU.
We are ready! I cannot wait to meet your student in just a couple of months!
Warmly,

Remind your student to use the BYA Checklist |
Be sure your student knows about the Before Your Arrive (BYA) Checklist. It lists important steps and requirements by month to keep your student on track for coming to campus.

Move-in Day and Orientation |
We're excited to welcome you and your student to campus in August! Move-in Day is Friday, August 14 and Saturday, August 15*. Students will select their assigned move-in date and time in early July, after receiving their housing assignment. Orientation is Saturday, August 15 through Saturday, August 22.
*International Student Move-in Day is August 13. Fall varsity athletes have different arrival dates; have your student check with their head coach for more information.

Communication from academic divisions |
Have your student check their WashU email account several times a week for important messages from their academic division. They will receive details about course registration and how to connect with their academic advisor. They also may be asked to complete important forms.
Update your family email address |
To ensure you and other family members receive university announcements, including Family Ties, make sure your student checks that their "Friends and Family Contacts" are updated in Workday.
A note from Financial Services about student accounts |
Review this important information about accessing balances and making payments. Note that friends and family should use the Friends and Family Login to access online payment options. Students will first need to set up the additional person and grant permission to them to make a payment, view account activity, and view student statements. Follow these steps when setting up Friends and Family and managing permissions.
