PDX People celebrate employee appreciation week.
Thank You, PDX People!
We recently held our annual PDX People employee appreciation week where we said thank you to our airport community with food, swag and fun...and we captured some highlights in a video!
We heard some heartfelt shout-outs as folks shared what makes working at PDX so special – both for travelers and for the people who keep it running every day.
"Everybody steps up, so it's hard to say just one person," noted Reggie Powell with Marshall Retail Group. Tawan Bernkopf with TSA added, "A shout out to the entire airport for just being involved every single day."
Thank you, PDX People, for going the extra mile – on carpet and terrazzo! – and sharing your PDX pride with everyone at our airport.

Upper Roadway: Now through Saturday, Oct. 18, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., the upper roadway's north sidewalk, as well as 1-2 curbside drive lanes at the north end, will be closed due to waterproofing work on the east-facing window wall. Additionally, a portion of the north revolving door near the elevators will be closed, although the south side door will remain in service at all times.
D/E Checkpoint: Now through Thursday, Oct. 9, the D/E Checkpoint will be closed on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays from 8 p.m. to 3 a.m. for seismic bracing work in the ceiling. The B/C Checkpoint will remain open.
B/C Bypass: On Friday, Oct. 3, the B/C pedestrian bypass will be closed from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. for crane work. During the closure, an alternative exit route will be in place. The exit route is open to all, but entry into Concourse B through this route is only open to Alaska/Horizon, Bags, Inc., and emergency responders.

Attendees at the Global Aviation Wildlife Conference.
PDX Hosts Global Aviation Wildlife Conference
In late August, PDX welcomed the Aviation Wildlife Management Conference for a rare, behind-the-scenes look at how our team keeps the skies safe for both travelers and our feathered neighbors. Led by Nick Atwell, the Port of Portland's senior manager of natural resources, and the PDX Wildlife Hazard Management team, attendees saw firsthand how data, care, and creative problem-solving come together every day at the airport. From touring one of the region’s largest open green spaces to learning about deterrence tools, raptor relocation, and clever landscaping tricks, the event was a showcase of science, strategy, and serious collaboration.

Save Lives, Give Blood, Get Gift Cards
Want to take home a $10 gift card to Portland Coffee Roasters, a $10 Amazon gift card, and swag from United Airlines? All you need to do is sign up for United's blood drive this Wednesday, Oct. 1, happening pre-security on the mezzanine level at PDX. Every two seconds, someone in the U.S. needs blood or platelets, and your blood donation helps to ensure there's enough supply for all patients who need it. It costs nothing but your time, and your donation is a gift that can help up to three people. Schedule your appointment now at the link above or call the American Red Cross at 1.800.RED.CROSS.

Show Your Support for Breast Cancer Awareness Month
It’s always a good time to wear pink, but it’s even better to show your support during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Once again, the Port of Portland Police team is going #PDXPink…and you can too! They are offering two options this year – t-shirts ($30) and hoodie sweatshirts ($45). Donations from the apparel sale will go to the Pink Lemonade Project, a local organization that provides support and resources to those affected by breast cancer. Fill out the order form before tonight's (Monday, Sept. 29) midnight deadline; orders will be available for pickup starting Thursday, Oct. 2.
Service dog at PDX in front of a sign that says
PDX in Pictures
Not all heroes wear capes…some wear vests! Last Saturday, we celebrated National Service Dog Day at PDX, a tail-waggin' event designed to help service dogs and their handlers feel right at home navigating the airport. From TSA checkpoint practice to relief area sniff-n-strolls, everyone expressed appreciation for the opportunity to practice in a busy space that can often feel overwhelming.
In the words of one handler, "Traveling with a service dog comes with responsibility, but it also brings freedom. With Archie by my side, I feel safe enough to dream about traveling more again – something I wasn’t sure I’d be able to do."
