13th ANNUAL LUCIE AWARDS HONOR OUTSTANDING PHOTOGRAPHERS
Gala Ceremony brings together Honorees, Media, Industry Presenters

New York, NY, (October 27, 2015) – New York hosted the 13th Annual Lucie Awards in a gala black-tie ceremony and awards program held at Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall. The Lucies – the world’s most esteemed photography awards ceremony honoring the greatest achievements in the field, presented awards ranging from Achievement in Fine Art and Documentary, to Achievements in support categories including Fashion and Advertising.
“For the third year in a row, Zankel Hall at Carnegie Hall becomes home to the people behind some of the greatest photographic accomplishments. The community we cherish comes together once again, to honor and celebrate those outstanding photographers who are among the best in their fields,” stated Lucies Founder, Hossein Farmani. “It is my great honor to have reached this 13 year milestone.”

David Hume Kennerly for Achievement in Photojournalism presented by journalist Ann Curry,
Roxanne Lowit for Achievement in Fashion presented by author, creative ambassador to Barney's New York, Simon Doonan and comedian, actress and producer Fran Drescher,
Jerry N. Uelsmann for Achievement in Fine Art presented by Lucie Founder Hossein Farmani,
Henry Diltz for Achievement in Music presented by Rock'n'Roll Hall of famer, photographer Graham Nash,
Barton Silverman for Achievement in Sports presented by New York Times Pulitzer Prize winning sports columnist Dave Anderson,
Danny Lyon for Achievement in Documentary presented by Mark Lubell, Executive Director, ICP
Stephanie Sinclair, the recipient of the Humanitarian Award presented by journalist Ann Curry,
George Tice as the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award presented by actress Megan Channell.

The IPA has awarded over $227,500 in prize money over the last 13 years. Winning work was displayed in the coveted annual Best of Show exhibition at Splashlight, during Lucie Weekend.

Roxana Saberi and Tony Harris, both highly-regarded journalists for Al Jazeera America, hosted the 13th Annual Lucie Awards. The Awards capped a weekend of celebration hosted by the Lucie Foundation, the Lucie Awards’ governing body, and was kicked off by Saturday afternoon’s Lucie Foundation sponsored artist talk, followed by Saturday evening’s Best of Show exhibition and party at Splashlight in the Soho section of New York City. Roy Flukinger, of the Harry Ransom Center, University of Texas at Austin, curated the images for this exhibition from the 2015 International Photography Awards Competition, The Lucie Foundation’s sister-effort. The Lucie Foundation, in conjunction with Phase One and Splashlight, presented this year’s Lucie Lecture by Joseph Cartright: “Is Photography Still an Art Form… YES! Why More than Ever… Creativity Matters,” hosted by Splashlight Studios, on Saturday, October 24.
