Henry Du (PI), CEMS Professor & Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Development, and Yuping Huang (Co-PI), PHY Professor & CQSE Director, received an EPA Award of $300K for their project “Multimodal Nanosensor for Field Detection and Degradation of PFAS Contamination in Groundwater and Wastewater (SENSE-PFAS),” with Clarkson University as prime.

Matthew Janssen (PI), Davidson Laboratory & CEOE Research Assistant Professor, and Jon Miller (Co-PI), Davidson Laboratory & CEOE Research Associate Professor, received an NJDOT Award of $235K for their project “St. George’s Thorofare, Absecon Inlet Sediment Management Study,” with Dewberry as prime.

Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Annual Conference Top Golden Award Winners |
Stephen Crocco and Caden Stott, CEOE AMP undergraduate students, received the top golden award at the 2024 Institute of Sustainable Infrastructure (ISI) Annual Conference. Their presentation, based on their senior design project advised by Dr. Weina Meng and sponsored by Stantec, detailed designs to guide the 107th Street Pier & Bobby Wagner Walkway Restoration project in a sustainable manner.

The following ECE graduate students are winners of the 2nd annual ECE Three-Minute Thesis (3MT) Competition:

- Sunil Gupta, advised by Md Abu Sayeed, won 1st place for the topic "Seizure detection using secured communication Networks."
- Nandan Hemanth, advised by Joseph Helsing, won 2nd place for the topic "Blabber - Call Translator with Voice Cloning."

Zexin Liu, advised by Lei Wu, won 3rd place for the topic "Equity-oriented power system planning and operation."

Best Paper Award Recipient |
Hanfei Yu, ECE graduate student advised by Hao Wang, was selected as the ACM/IEEE SC 2024 Best Student Paper Finalist for his paper "Stellaris: Staleness-Aware Distributed Reinforcement Learning with Serverless Computing," accepted by the International Conference for High Performance Computing, Networking, Storage, and Analysis (SC) 2024.
His second paper, "Pre-Warming is Not Enough: Accelerating Serverless Inference with Opportunistic Pre-Loading" won the ACM SoCC’2024 Best Paper Award and was accepted by the ACM Symposium on Cloud Computing (SoCC) 2024.
