Strategies for Remote Learning

The Digital Learning Hub has put together a list of resources available as you all transition to remote courses for Spring quarter. Check out their website for information on content tutoring, learning strategies, and guidance on tools and technology.

Services remain available while campus is remote. Continue to check-in with university departments for all recent updates.

In need of medical guidance? 

Students can message the UCSD Advice Nurses through MyStudentChart or call 858-534-3300. There is NO charge for nurse advice. It is free to all students regardless of insurance, and can be used to call for advice outside of Student Health's regular operating hours.

Job and internship postings, virtual info sessions with employers and career coaches, and virtual appointments for resume review and career coaching are all available via Handshake. Current students can connect with alumni for mentorship through Tritons Connect.

Register as Pre-Health/Pre-Med to receive important email updates!

For those of you who are pre-health or pre-med, HEALTH BEAT is the centralized pre-health and pre-med advising resource at UC San Diego’s Career Center! We provide advising, strategic planning (i.e. timeline to med, pharmacy, dentistry, vet, etc. school, when to take the MCAT, DAT, GRE, PCAT, etc.), the most up-to-date and relevant resources, signature events (e.g. Medical School Application Clinic and Health Professions Acceptance Celebration and Networking Event!), programming, and more! 

Our brand new Health Beat Career Guide is ready! This will take you step-by-step and help you build a competitive application to any health professional school. In this guide, you can explore and compare the different health professions, log and track your work and activities, learn how to land a research position, journal and reflect on your experiences, and much much more!

Genetech's UCSD Virtual Info Session and OSA Scholarship

We're looking for Tritons to join Genentech! Join us to learn about a $2,500 award and guaranteed internship in biotech! The Genentech team will be sharing information about our Outstanding Student Award (OSA), internships, rotation programs and how we're putting our patients first with innovative medicine and therapies. Please RSVP by September 30, 2020. Register for the event and be entered into a raffle to win a gift card! Must be virtually present to win. 
The Outstanding Student Award (OSA) was founded in Pharmaceutical Technical Development (PTD) to recognize students who excelled in disciplines related to the field of biotechnology at selected schools. One student from UC San Diego, based on their passion for biotech and high scholastic achievement will be awarded a $2,500 scholarship* and a guaranteed 3-month summer internship** starting in May/June 2021 at our South San Francisco headquarters. 
*Scholarship is contingent on acceptance of internship offer
**Internships may be in-person or virtual due to global pandemic situation at the time of the internship.

UCSD BSSA Mentor-Mentee Mixer 

 Looking to join one of UC San Diego's largest student biology association? The Biological Sciences Student Organization (BSSA) provides many opportunities for UCSD biology undergraduates to network with peers and professionals, participate in volunteer events, and develop their career in the biology field. With events spanning from professional development workshops to socials, BSSA strives to provide the resources to further your academic, professional, and social success at UCSD. In doing so, BSSA has created a welcoming community where you can find friends and form meaningful connections. Coming into UCSD as a first year or transfer can be daunting. If you're looking for someone experienced to help guide you through being a Bio major at UCSD or if you're interested in helping out younger undergraduates, come to BSSA's Mentor-Mentee Mixer! You'll be able to meet like-minded peers and form lasting mentor/mentee friendships in the Biological Sciences Student Association (BSSA)'s Mentor-Mentee Program!

Register to Vote!

You are eligible to vote if you:
  • Are a United States citizen
  • Are a resident of California (even if you're a student originally from another state, you can register using your current California college address and you can vote in California; there is no extra wait time)
  • Are at least 18 years of age (or will be by the date of the next election on June 5, 2018)
  • Are not in prison or on parole for conviction of a felon
  • Have not been judged by a court to be mentally incompetent to register and vote

Prepare for election day:

National presidential election: Tuesday, November 3, 2020 (last day to register online, Oct. 19)
