K-9 Jacky Works Hard to Keep You Safe and Smiling
You've probably seen Port of Portland Police Officer Charlie Berry and her adorable K-9 partner Jacky roving the terminal to ensure travelers and PDX People stay safe, but did you know they're also making waves on social media?
Officer Berry started sharing Jacky's adventures to bring positivity to the world. Jacky, a unique and one-in-a-billion personality, quickly became a social media sensation with her derpy faces and contagious smiles.
"[Jacky] keeps me going, in a sense she keeps me alive in this uniform," Officer Berry said. "Jacky isn't just an explosives detection police canine, she doubles as a wellness canine for not only me, but my community as a whole."
The duo's future goals center around humanizing the badge they wear and reshaping perceptions of law enforcement officers. Who knew being a dog influencer could be this pawsitively awesome?!

PDX in Pictures
The recent winter storm covered Portland in ice, and extreme conditions meant many PDX People worked around the clock. A giant thank you to everyone who stepped up, from pre-treating and maintaining the airfields and planes to making sure travelers were informed and cared for during their time at PDX.
As Port of Portland Executive Director Curtis Robinhold posted on Twitter, "I’m telling you, our PDX People are incredible. Thanks to all our crews – maintenance, operations, police, fire, parking, concessions, customer service – keeping it together for all of us!"
We'd like to highlight you and your colleagues' extraordinary efforts during this past week. If you have a story about a team or an individual who went above and beyond during the recent winter weather event, email PDX People Communications with a description of what they did. Make sure to include names, companies and any other important details, including photos. We'll highlight your stories in the next PDX People newsletter and on digital signage!
