The Utah State Legislature is in session, which means UEN will advocate for funding to support programs that benefit students across the state. This year, we will request ongoing funding for the Zoom license that empowers distance education in both K-12 schools and higher education. Last year, the legislature provided one-time funding of $2 million; we are asking them to extend this funding on an ongoing basis.
Governor Spencer Cox has made this funding a priority in his budget recommendations to the legislature, and it’s no surprise. This technology enables every student in Utah, even those in the farthest corners of the state, to access higher education, as this video explains.
