Bring colour to paper as you explore two completely unique ecosystems in Costa Rica. Immerse yourself in the surreal and magical setting of the Talamanca Mountains and cloud forest, followed by the enchanting wilderness, lush tropical rainforest and warm Pacific Ocean of the Osa Peninsula. Enjoy beautiful accommodations, delicious organic foods and let your senses be inspired by these two enchanting destinations.

This Costa Rican Art Retreat is hosted by renowned pastel artist Margaret Ferraro in partnership with Rainforest Reef Escape, a boutique adventure travel company that promotes green and sustainable eco-retreats. We have put together a unique escape that blends both art and exploration, allowing you to fully discover the beauty of Costa Rica.

Details of Your Exciting Art Escape...
Start your adventure in San José, Costa Rica's vibrant capital city. Here you can visit the National Theatre, various museums or simply enjoy the local flavor. You will be staying your first night at Casa Roland Boutique Hotel in Pavas, a suburb of San Jose. The next morning, take a scenic drive to Poas Volcano where you can easily climb to the summit for a stunning view of the crater and lake. Afterwards, return to your private shuttle for a guided tour all the way to Dantica Lodge in San Gerardo de Dota, your home for the next three nights.

Dantica Lodge - Your Accommodation and Food
Enjoy your first few nights in the fresh air of the Talamanca Mountains. You'll be staying at Dantica Lodge situated deep inside the cloud forest and bordering the Quetzales National Park. This area provides the ultimate mountain retreat setting. Dantica features luxurious bungalows with either a queen bed or two separate beds that offer a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains and forest. Breakfast is included in your stay and your choice of à la carte gourmet meals for lunch and dinner. Visit the link above for more information and photos about your mountain accommodations.

Art at Dantica
This is where your exciting art retreat will officially begin. Follow daily morning and afternoon art sessions with Margaret surrounded by this calm mountain setting. Be inspired by your natural surroundings, trees, rivers, mountains, birds and flowers. Dantica features a beautiful art gallery where the group is invited to paint and create as well as many other beautiful areas for you to choose from.

Mountain Activities
On top of your daily art sessions, you are invited to enjoy any of the optional tours offered by Dantica. We will also be leading various hikes that you can join if you feel like exploring the property and local trails. This area is known for birding and the famous and rare Quetzal. Join us as we explore the mountains and it's incredible biodiversity.

Onto the Ocean....
After your relaxing time in the mountains, head to the coast by private shuttle where you can enjoy the blue of the ocean. You'll be on your way to the lush and vibrant Osa Peninsula located in the southwest corner of the country. Here the weather will turn from fresh to warm and you'll find out quickly why the Osa is described as  "the most biologically intense place on earth" by National Geographic Magazine. Here you will spot everything from all four species of monkeys, to the largest population of Scarlet Macaws in the country. It's also home to over 350 species of birds, amphibians like the red eye tree frog, wildcats such as ocelots, jaguars and pumas, and many other exotic animals. It's also where you'll find the Golfo Dulce, home to dolphins, nesting turtles and visiting whales. It is THE place in all of the country to view abundant wildlife.

Tumbo de las Olas - Accommodation and Food
Your next four nights will be spent on the Osa Peninsula in Matapalo. You'll be staying at Tumbo de las Olas, a beautiful two story house that features queen and single beds all comfortably spread out on the top floor. For couples, or those who require more privacy, the property also has a few private cabanas. You can also enjoy a lovely pool and a private yoga platform for those who wish to practice (your sessions are included). Just across from the property, you will find access to your very own private beach and the warm Pacific Ocean. All meals are included at Tumbo de las Olas, from your delicious breakfast with fresh fruit, to your lunch and dinner, which will include organic meats, fish and veggie dishes. Follow the link above for more information and photos about your rainforest accommodations.

Art at Tumbo de las Olas
Here you will find inspiration everywhere, from the bright coloured heliconias, to the layering of the ocean waves. Continue with daily morning and afternoon sessions with Margaret as you surround yourself by picturesque beaches and tropical virgin rainforests.

Rainforest Activities
For those interested in hiking and exploring, follow daily-guided treks that will take you to waterfalls, down vast canopy trails and to scenic viewpoints.
