The bond between a Service Dog and their handler is like no other. For eight to ten years the team is together 24/7. Service Dogs are incredibly important and are specifically trained to mitigate their handler’s disability.
Service Dogs can alert to high or low blood sugar, seizures, cardiac conditions, narcolepsy, and many other health conditions. Service Dogs can guide people who are blind around obstacles, alert people who are deaf to important sounds, help people with mobility issues complete daily living tasks, and help provide counterbalance.
It is dire to allow the dog to focus on their job by not distracting them, no matter the environment. Please do not pet, make eye contact, or call a working Service Dog to you!
