New Faces in the New Year
We are excited to announce several staffing additions for the coming semester.
Frank Stevens joins SAS in the newly configured role of Facilities/IT Manager. Frank holds an MBA and BA in Computer Information Science with a minor in Mathematics. He served in the USAF working as a programmer and trainer before launching a private sector career in software engineering and systems analysis. In 2007, he returned to systems work for the federal government at the Defense Information Systems Agency. Since 2014, Frank has served in Haiti as a missionary, community ministry director, and operations manager for a social entreprenuerial and jobs creation program and a home for orphaned and vulnerable children. He is the father of Gabe Stevens ’19 and husband of Jan Stevens ’95.
With babies on the way, Chaplain Molly Short and Spanish teacher Stephen Thomas will each be taking time away from work to care for their new additions.
The Rev. Guiliana Gray will step in to fill Mother Short’s chaplaincy role. Mother Gray formerly served as Rector and Priest-in-Charge in Indianola, MS. Prior to that, she was Priest-in-Charge and Chaplain at Chapel of the Holy Spirit and Associate Rector at St. George’s Episcopal Church, both in New Orleans. Before joining the priesthood, Mother Gray was a Clinical Social Worker providing counseling for a variety of populations including children diagnosed with mental illness and families seeking to improve parenting and conflict resolution. She holds an MDiv from Virginia Theological Seminary, an MSW from Tulane University, and a BS in Social Work with a minor in Music from Xavier University.
Courtnay Zeitler will be covering Mother Short’s Introduction to Religious Studies course. Courtnay, who holds a BA in English and Religion from Wofford College, is Research Literacy Librarian and Instructor at the University of the South's Jesse Ball duPont Library. She also teaches Academic Research and Critical Thinking and previously taught Freshman English & Composition. Courtnay's online teaching experience will be valuable in ensuring instructional continuity of Mother Short’s curriculum as we begin the semester online. Courtney also holds an MA in English from Wake Forest University and a MLS from Middle Tennessee State University. Courtnay is the wife of Athletic Director Rob Zeitler, mother of Payton '21, Blaise '18, and Emma '15, and a longtime member of the SAS residential community.
Walter Reid ’10 will fill in for Señor Thomas. Walter received his BA in International Relations and Affairs in Latin America from University of North Georgia and an AAS in Criminal Justice. He lived, studied, and taught in Nicaragua and Peru and served as a Peace Corps volunteer in Columbia. Most recently, he has taught History, English, and Social Studies at Aspaen Colombia in Bogotá. Walter's mother, Violet, is a former SAS teacher and houseparent.
