Administering the Workplace Wellness Scan
As a Champion, part of your role is to identify well-being needs in your department. This can be done through having conversations with your colleagues or surveying your department. To assist with this, the WashU Well-Being team has created an assessment tool, the Workplace Wellness Scan, that will help you identify your department's well-being needs.
The scan consists of quantitative and qualitative questions that are based on the 8ight Ways to Wellness. Gathering data from this anonymous survey might help you identify well-being needs that would not have been identified otherwise. See below for the easy steps on how to administer the Workplace Wellness Scan.
Steps to Administer the Workplace Wellness Scan
1. Share a preview of the survey with your supervisor to start the conversation and get their approval. Any data input via this link will not be recorded.
2. Contact the HR Well-being Team to let us know you are interested in administering the scan and have supervisor approval.
3. We will then email you a template you can send to your workgroup with the Qualtrics link to take the survey.
4. Once the data are collected, the results will be analyzed and we will schedule a time to meet with you to discuss your results and create a strategy.
If this is something you would like to learn more about, please reach out to us with any questions.

Heather Roemerman is a clinical research coordinator in Pediatric Hematology and was awarded the Champion Fund to host a half-day wellness event for her office. After reviewing the Workplace Wellness Scan results, Heather was inspired to tailor a Wellness Day for her workgroup.
Heather invited Meg Krejci, WashU’s mindfulness consultant, to guide her office through a mindfulness practice. Heather's office partnered with Bridgette Sims, WashU’s onsite nurse advocate, to provide information about mental health and well-being resources that are available to WashU employees. Additionally, Erin McGraw, one of WashU’s MyWay to Health dietitians, came and assisted employees in building healthy trail mix.
Heather is a great example of how to utilize the results from the Workplace Wellness Scan to inform the Champion Fund project. If you are interested in applying for the Champion Fund, please reach out to Caralee via email, lynchc@wustl.edu.

| Child and Family Care Facilitator
What are some of your favorite ways to cultivate well-being in your life?
My own sense of wellbeing is grounded in the importance of being focused on the wellbeing of others. My mind and spirit are most lifted when I can meet others where they are, assume their positive intent, and provide empathetic, respectful attention and support.
I am also learning to listen to my own internal voice regarding my physical health (moving and eating with more intention) and emotional needs (activity, rest, and connection). I look forward to continuing on this journey.

HR Well-being is an employee health initiative that, in partnership with Washington University experts, offers opportunities for employees to improve their physical and emotional well-being. This initiative focuses on developing evidence-based programs and making personal connections to provide employees with valuable and fun experiences that improve their health. We aim to foster a culture that prioritizes employee health and well-being as integral to the mission of teaching, research, and patient care, and create an environment where the healthier choice is the easiest choice; where employees are empowered to choose wellness.
WashU Wellness Champions help us understand the needs within different work environments, promote the importance of personal health, and encourage their coworkers to engage in wellness program offerings.
