The Happiest Man on Earth, Jackson Whalan, Phony Ppl & Memorial Day events
World Premiere
Through June 17
Barrington Stage kicks off a new era under the leadership of Artistic Director Alan Paul with the world premiere of The Happiest Man on Earth by Mark St. Germain. The play is directed by Ron Lagomarsino and stars Kenneth Tigar as Holocaust survivor Eddie Jaku. It is based on his extraordinary 2020 memoir of the same name, published when Jaku was 100 years old. The performance will be at the St. Germain Stage. More info

Sculpture Exhibition

Sat May 27, 3–5 p.m.
An opening reception and artist's talk will be held this Saturday for Finding the Center: Ron Mehlman at Chesterwood, the title of Chesterwood's 45th Annual Contemporary Outdoor Sculpture Show. Finding the Center features Mehlman’s sculptures from the 1980s to the present and chronicles his growth over four decades. Season Opener

May 26–July 30
Shakespeare & Company opens its season Friday evening with Ken Ludwig’s Dear Jack, Dear Louise, directed by Ariel Bock. This World War II-era two-hander features David Gow returning for his fifth season with Shakespeare & Company as Jack, and Zoya Martin making her Berkshires debut, as Louise. More info

Misty Blues

Sat May 27, 7:30 p.m.
This new production by Misty Blues pays homage to the matriarchs of the Blues: Bessie Smith, Big Mama Thornton, Ruth Brown, and Koko Taylor. Misty Blues, led by lead singer Gina Coleman, plays original and traditional blues with hints of jazz, soul, funk and tent revival Gospel since 1999. The performance is at Adams Theater, and dinner at 6 p.m. is an option. More info
Jackson Whalan
Fri May 26, 7:30–10:30 p.m.
Berkshire-born lyricist and producer Jackson Whalan will perform at The Egremont Barn. His shows are high energy and include freestyle rapping with topics from the audience, guest musicians, looping, and beats. Whalan has worked with Hip Hop legend KRS-One and toured throughout the United States with Moon Hooch. His newest single, "Wavelength," is available on all streaming platform. More info

The Brooklyn-based five-piece Phony Ppl welcomes in MASS MoCA's summer season with a genre-bending party of sound that will keep you on the dance floor all night. The band has been blowing minds wherever they play with their mix of hip-hop, jazz, R&B, reggae, soul, and rock. More info

A Day to Honor

Throughout the Berkshires, community members are honoring the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. In Williamstown, the Memorial Day Parade begins at 11 a.m. at the bottom of Spring Street. In Lee, the parade starts by Joe's Diner at 10 a.m. In Sandisfield, the parade also starts at 10 a.m. at the Old Town Hall. In Great Barrington, an honorary ceremony begins at Town Hall at 11 a.m. More info
